"Another Great Jon Katz book!"
"Izzy and Lenore" is another great, fun book about Katz's dogs. The book left me convinced again that the benefit of having a dog in your life is an indescribable pleasure, and for both dog and owner, an opportunity to grow and learn.
Katz writes about his dogs without making them saints or nightmares. He has a very honest appreciation for the relationship between dogs and owners, and the parts both play in that pairing.
Katz's books about dogs can't appear often enough for me. First captivated by Orson, the wonderful/devildog border collie that Katz owned and trained, "My First Dog" was a lovely tribute to a dog that was a handful!
A must-read for dog owners!
"Amazing Book.."
I am not normally one to write reviews about audio books I listen to, and this is the first one I have written in my 2 years with audible...
This book moved me so much, helping me to think about some of the amazing work people and dogs can do to help people -- and even making me cry at several points throughout the book.
I have listened to Jon's other books such as The New Work of Dogs - and they are great, but pale in comparison to this one.
Its ironic because in The New Work of Dogs he was talking about the various different and unique things other people are doing with thier dogs and now he is writting about the new work that Izzy (an amazingly insightful border collie) and Jon are doing with Hospice...

"Laughter and Tears..."
This is my second Katz novel and I love them all! This one touches your heart as you get to experience the job of a therapy dog. I am not sure that many people realize how dogs and other animals can give so much to us. Therapy dogs are wondrous souls and Izzy is amazing! I love visiting the farm with each of his novels and learning about life along the way. Great narrator also.
"Loved this book."
I wanted to read this book because a good friend was in the ICU for five weeks and I was interested in the part of the book about hospice care. I'm also considering getting a dog this year, as I'll be moving to the country.
I really loved the parts of this book about the dogs and essentially the redemption of both the man and dog through their relationship (Izzy). The fact that he then turns into a therapy dog with amazing healing abilities is a part of the boook I have told many friends about.
His farm and relationship with his variety of animals keeps you reading the book too. Read it.
This is my first Jon Katz book and I immediately went to the library and read another in two days: Dog Year.
"Izzy & Lenore"
This was the best downloaded book so far!! As an RN, I've encountered some of these same situations & wish I had Izzy by my side! It was written & narrated so well that I could lose myself in it! I would love more like this!
I am the girlfriend to a wonderful man, the mom to two sweet doggie boys and two overly cautious girl cats, the Manager, Operations and Knowledge Support Services at CAMH, a blogger, a reader, a business owner, a friend, a sister, a daughter, a neice, a cousin, a twitter lady for The Puppy Rescue Mission... AND VERY TIRED! LOL!!!!
"Another Great book by Katz"
Katz has a way of capturing and describing the scenes on his farm with his friends, visitors, family and beloved animals like no one else. I am mezmorized by every book, sad when they are done... And ready for the next.
Everything
He makes you forget that you are not listening to the author reading his own work!
All of Katz's books make you laugh, cry and everything else... They are just so real!
"Mench"
no they are about the same
I love that Jon puts his heart in his stories.
Laughter through the tears.
Jon comes alive in his stories, I feel like I know him and the transformation of his life.
"Loved It!!"
I particularly liked the stories about Jon and Izzy's visits to the hospice patients. What a wonderful service the two of them are providing to these deserving people. Izzy is so amazing in his ability to read the patients and he seems to know exactly what each one needs from him and so does Jon.
To me, Tom Stechschulte is Jon Katz.
It will bring joy to your heart and tears to your eyes!
"A Touching Story"
This is a good book for anyone who loves dogs/pets. It is also good if you have any experience with Alzheimer's disease/dementia, and end of life care.
