In Steven Pressfield's richly imagined, vividly detailed story, golf legends Bobby Jones and Walter Hagen are joined by a local unsung opponent, the troubled war hero Rannulph Junah. Played above raging Atlantic surf and under gathering storm clouds, their match is thrilling competition. But the key to the outcome lies with Bagger Vance, a caddie who carries the secret of the Authentic Swing. His mysterious powers guide the play and leave a lasting imprint on the lives he touches that day and in years to come.
A sports fable worthy of comparison to The Natural, The Legend of Bagger Vance reveals that, in life as well as golf, the real battle is not with outside opponents but with oneself.

"Blows the movie away!"
This is a great story, rich in detail and very well narrated by Ronnie Cox. I didn't care for the movie but Pressfield is a fabulous storyteller.
"My first ABRIDGED audio book."
I truly enjoyed this book and found it difficult to turn off. Even though this was an ABRIDGED version the narrator did a very good job. I searched for an UNABRIDGED version but did not find one. I also bought the book. Enjoy!
"Great Story"
You'll get the most out of this story if you know something of golf and especially if you've played it. The story uses golf as a metaphor for life and is wonderfully told. I was looking forward to my car trips waiting to listen to the next installment of this audio book. Highly recommend.
"Simply my favorite book!!"
I have both paperback and audio book version of this book and this is simply the best book I have ever read. It can be a little hard to get into for some people because it not sport story with the typical climatic ending about but more of a spiritual book using golf as a metaphor for life. The story, character development and detail description of Savannah in 1931 are outstanding. In short, it’s a great spiritual story and it may actually help you with your golf game.
"Edge of Your Seat Listen"
Excellent listen. I did not see the film adaptation and don't plan to. May not enjoy it as much if you're golf illiterate.
"Deeper meaning to this book...."
What you all may not realize, but an insight from the author behind this book is: Juna is Arjuna, the central character in the Baghavad Gita, and Bagger Vance is God.. Baghavad Gita.. the song of the lord..
Re-read this book with this perspective, and you will see the deeper intentions of the author..

"Narrator Excellent!"
The author must have had the narrator Ronny Cox in mind when he wrote the book. I have listened to many many audio books, but this narrator was great with a capital G. I could not wait to get in my car and drive to work each day listening to the story.
"Couldn't even finish!"
Goodness but this was a boring book. Just flat-out B-O-R-I-N-G!! I am not a golfer, but my husband is an avid golfer, so I think I know more about the sport than most non-golfers. But I really expected some kind of STORY - foolish me!
I ended up telling my husband that I had a hard time getting through this (he had read the book previously) and his response was, "Oh, I could have told you it was dull!" Well, now I am telling you - this is DULL! Keep in mind that I sometimes enjoy slow paced, descriptive, insightful books. This isn't one I enjoyed - couldn't even finish it!
