"IF YOU'R LOOKING FOR ROMANCE THEN LOOK NO FURTHER"

Book 1 of the Prince Trilogy (the Prince's are mythical fairytales that slowly unfold at the beginning of each chapter) I love E.H.'s books and this one is filled with likeable flawed characters that come to life as you become more involved in a well written, well narrated storyline that has passion, humour, emotion, blackmail and some steamy love scenes.

Anna isn't a pretty well gowned young debutant or Lady and Edward isn't a handsome young rake but their story IS beautiful - a lowly almost penniless widow and a scarred loud Earl who try, but fail, to keep to the social boundaries dictated by the rules of Georgian England's Society.

Worth a credit? This is a sweet romance novel and definitely, absolutely and certainly worth a credit but, for the listeners who must have total 'historical accuracy' as well, they should look elsewhere. As for me, we'll I'm eagerly off to listen to book 2 The Leopard Prince and then 3 The Serpent Prince (ahhhh isn't life grand!).

"Jubilant about this Author and Narrator."

The humor, period detail, romance and vivid characters make this book one of my favorites. I love the way each chapter starts with an excerpt from a fairy tale and both conclude in the final chapter. The writing is just extraordinary. The publishers consistently get it right when it comes to the narration. If all the audio books could be so lucky. This author won fan favorite for best love scene (All About Romance) for Thief of Shadows but to me all her books deserve kudos.

"Another great romance novel by Elizabeth Hoyt."

Elizabeth Hoyt is a wonderful author. I love her fairy tales too. I really enjoyed this book. The story was good and the narrator just makes this book so much better. I enjoyed the Maiden Lane series so much, I was so happy to see this Raven Prince series come out on audible. The first book in the Four Soldiers series is good but unfortunately the narrator is not so good and I was only listened to the first book. UGH.. If you enjoy historical romance novels you will enjoy Elizabeth Hoyt. I am now a fan.
I am moving on to the second book of the Raven Prince series, Leopard Prince.
Moira Quirk is fantastic, one of the best narrators. Worth the credits and dollars.

    "VERY Good Narrator"
Would you consider the audio edition of The Raven Prince to be better than the print version?

Yes. When you purchase the audible version, you have certain expectations. This narration was sooooo good. I haven't heard her before, however sometimes new is better. I have steered away from some because of the narrator. Glad that Moira Quirk has done all three in this series. Very smooth and the different voices do not detract from the listening. Great Job with the story and bringing it to life verbally.

What did you like best about this story?

Elizabeth Hoyt books are so different that it isn't the usual romance. The stories are different the H/H are different. Brings the past to life and doesn't sugar coat it.

What about Moira Quirk’s performance did you like?

Excellent! Congratulations. I have gotten so that I can not tolerate Fosnick(sp) or Pebbles. This has such nice tones. Maybe it is the studio, but very nice to listen as you can get lost in the book and not even notice the narrator. That a great audio. Each time you catch something else.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Great that he was not beautiful or handsome.

    Any additional comments?

Also, if you like to listen more than once it is a keeper. This is one along the lines of Anna Fields and XE Sands top narration to a well written book. . Money well spent!

    "Wonderful!!!"

This is my first book of EH and I must say I only downloaded the book cause of the narrator. I do love historical romances, so that was an added bonus. I must say I couldn't get enough of Moira Quirk's voice. The story I must say was a bit confusing at the beginning of each chapter but after two chapters I figured it was a reading from the little red book in the Earl's library. The characters are not flat and EH makes you feel for them.
They have lots of passion and drive.
    worth a credit..

"for me, the narrator made it"

The snippets of fiction at the beginning of chapters is, to me, weird. Not complaining, just saying... However, I don't think I've enjoyed a narrator more than Ms Quirk. The story is well done, but repetitive in little ways--I think it was six times in the book that the hero lifted the heroine (and once a secondary female character) seemingly effortlessly. We got it, you're showing us that he is strong. Showing rather than telling is part of good writing, however, twice drives the point home, more than that gives me to understand that the author thinks her readers have poor memories or she, herself, forgets what she's written or perhaps just is over-invested in her hero.

That having been said, I enjoyed the Raven Prince. I failed to find it particularly witty, but it had charm and, while not historically accurate in speech or setting, it is done well enough not to overly jar this reader's senses.

And the author has a very good grasp of grammar. Only once was I jarred from the story with a grammar "huh?', but turns out it was correctly written. So she wins a HUGE number of points from me for that. Especially in the oral form when an error is so jarring on both halves of the brain.

So, to sum up, the narrator reads as though she is actually invested in the story without going over the top and without sounding bored or emitting the verbal equivalent of an eye roll. The author does a creditable job of telling a story (foreshadowing by the chapter introductions notwithstanding) and if you like the genre and are looking for something that might hold your interest for a long car ride, this just might be what you're looking for. Certainly far better than a lot
of the swill out there. And as always, YMMV.

Great story, one that is fresh and not the standard romance. I have to say I am impressed with the author in creating such a treat. The reader also did an excellent job!

    "A Great Read"
What made the experience of listening to The Raven Prince the most enjoyable?

This is a beautiful and well-written story. I love that the characters are not perfect and that they deal with each other realistically. I read the whole series, and this is my favorite of the three.

A totally entertaining romance with strong characters. The heroine is a strong woman who does not take anyone messing with her man. A fun read.

    "Excellent Story"

I loved this book. The love story was heartwarming with main characters who did not possess the typical "flawless beauty." Plenty of mystery, intrigue, great sex, and compelling friendships. Narration was terrific. One of the best books in this genre.
