Roughing It

Don’t let the lack of reviews and the low price of this book fool you. I downloaded it on a whim to have something for my wife and me to listen to while traveling on a recent trip. We like to listen to erotic type stories while traveling, however, most are so badly written, lack a story, unrealistic, predictable, juvenile, etc. they are painful to listen to.

This book was a pleasant surprise! I would put it in the same general quality category with “A Good Student” by Elliot Mabeuse (except the narrator doesn’t sound like a dirty old man, this is well narrated), which has hundreds of good reviews, and I personally liked very much. I felt the story what not too unrealistic and it was written as a story with a plot that could even continue into sequels (might be nice to see where couple goes from there) and not just cheap erotica, poorly written and only focus on the erotic part and not the story and writing.

It was also nice to have a story that did not include infidelity, multiple participants, gay or incest, extreme kink, etc. Not that I’m opposed to those themes, it was unique to have a book that focused on one theme, without feeling the need to sensationalizing into other venues to attract or keep a reader.

The writer gave us a good erotic book in what evidently (by the number of bad books/attempts there are) seems to be a very difficult category to write and deliver a quality product.

The most interesting part of the book was the bad knees of the male lead. The narration is unspeakably Awfull.

Compared to other erotica, this is a good listen. I like the fantasy world created by the characters to help move their night together along.

Other BDSM books may be more graphic with multiple partners. But this is one night between two consenting adults. The fantasy plays well into the scene.

Will fantasy become a reality for these two stranger?

It just didn’t seem to go anyplace. Not a waste of time, but not exciting either

I like my romances erotic and I liked the idea of this story, but it just did not deliver. I did like the fact that the male character was real in some ways because he couldn't do everything due to having bad knees. I found it hard to follow the fantasy within the story and kept rewinding to see if I missed something. It was just a little odd to me that the guy got his fantasy wish from his best friends, but as soon as he got into the room, he really did not appreciate what he had as he had to go into a fantasy mode to get into the sex. Usually I want to listen to Ms. Harper's books as I find them exquisite, but in this case I was not happy.
