Ghouls Gone Wild: A Ghost Hunter Mystery

What's more frustrating, the narrator or the story? The narrator is excellent at caricatures, like your embarrassing great uncle after a few drinks. Her Scottish accent mostly sounds like the Simpsons' Groundskeeper Willie, except when it slips into Lucky Charms Irish. The one gay character lisps and sounds like Big Gay Al on South Park. It is really, really grating. The story has gigantic holes you just have to look past, like the slowness with which news travels in a small Scottish village. A crew of ghost hunters with a camera crew show up in a village, anywhere, and I am certain the entire village will be aware pretty quickly. Deaths start occurring around them, people will immediately know and be suspicious of them. But not in this village. There is an embedded love story, of course. It is painfully cliche. And then there are the little details of the story - things like the narrator's phone working in both the US and UK.

I listen to audiobooks while I walk to work, run errands and do chores - so I go through a lot of them. I generally prefer mysteries and urban fantasy. Without trying, this author should have been able to get at least a 3 star from me, but the terrible accents, the silly plot, the sillier love story and the sloppy details - this is pretty awful.

These series reminds me of the Scooby-doo cartoon more and more. Gillie is the Shaggy type, MJ is Daphne, Stephen or Heath can be Fred and you can fill in other characters with misc ppl. The same, "It was.... all along!" typical Scooby-doo ending. I'm not saying this to knock the story - because I enjoyed it. It's just very Scooby-doo

This book was ok. I like the story line, the relationship twist, but don't know was not as good as the other ones. To much to fast not sure story line was ok but slow. Not I have to get in the car and listen. Ready for the next one. Maybe it was just me. But, I'm glad we have a twist in the relationship but sad at the same time. Would like to see where it is going to go.

Victoria Laurie's style of writing led me to try this series.

I liked the mix of humor, horror and friendship--made for such a fun read.

I liked ES performance, her voice for Stephen is perfecto.

Scottland witch hunt

the scene in the underground caves and the witches are slowly hunting them found me on the edge of my seat hoping they would hurry and pick up the pace.

Gilly will always be my favorite

yes I would say when MJ found the ghost of the witch's sister looking for her baby in the castle was kind of sad.

I really do like this series, and I so enjoy the narrator. Some folks might gripe on the accents, but you know what? I don't know much of the difference from one to the other, so it all sounds believable to me!

Gilly and the fire extinguisher was pretty funny, but he still gets on my nerves with all the whinging and caterwauling going on. The relationship change seemed a little weird, as did a few other details like how the kitchen was so mysteriously destroyed in a kitchen chase.. well, it seemed like there was too much mess for how it was supposed to have happened. These strange little things I do notice, but do really enjoy the stories. Although this one I couldn't listen to at night.

My disclaimer is that I'm a self identified wuss, as you'll know if you read my other reviews on this series. For some of you, this story will be something you can listen to while singing a bedtime lullaby for your wee ones. Not me. I wasn't QUITE under the bed, but I was feeling very alone in the car in the dark, on a deserted road... yeah. I've got an overactive imagination too!

This was a good fast paced story that kept me on the edge of my seat.
