The Screen Director's Playhouse featured adaptations of famous movies and called upon the directors to introduce and highlight their work. After each show, the director and stars gathered around the microphones to reminisce about the making of the film.

"A Holiday Favorite"
If you're like me, your holiday season isn't complete without seeing Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed do battle with Lionel Barrymore. This old radio braodcast is a condensed version of the movie, with all the same actors. It's a great way to enjoy this classic while dashing through the mall.
"Not Quite the Movie But It Will Do for a Quick Fix"
I don't know a print version, but it's not as good as the film. Jimmy Stewart is in the radio broadcast. However, the angel, 2nd class, Clarence, is played by someone with a lisp, and he does not have the lovely sweetness of the filmed character.
Jimmy Stewart is such an "everyman" and his voice, separated from his physicality, may be even more effective than in the film. The scene where he asks Mary to be his wife is very touching and his recognition that he loves her comes through even more clearly than in the movie.
