A shape-shifter, Natalya hunts those who kill by night. Searching for vampires and Carpathians high in the mountains, she is as deadly as she is beautiful. Vikirnoff, a Carpathian, also hunts vampires, but his people are Natalya's enemies. One night, Vikirnoff joins Natalya in a vicious clash with vampires. Although the two are victors, the battle between their hearts and souls has just begun. Can desire overcome their ancestral enmity?
Sensuous language and strands of Carpathian lore add sumptuous layers of pleasure to Dark Demon, which captured the number-two spot on the New York Times, USA Today, and Publishers Weekly best seller lists.
Love in vein: listen to more Carpathian tales in Christine Feehan's Dark Series.

"Feehan has a knack for bringing vampiric Carpathians to vivid, virile life." (Publishers Weekly)
"Overdone"
How many "hot searing kisses" can two characters share in one story. Good God! The author really needs to work on widening her vocabulary. I have never experienced so much unjustifiable blatant sexual tension. Just too much, it made the story almost unbearable. After spending over $20.00 I forced myself to finish. Save yourself.
"Love the Series...not the narrator"
I love the series. I'm listening to them one after another. :-) But the narrator is ruining it for me. The female voices need much to be desired. Even the males aren't that good. Not enough variance between them. Sometimes I forget who's talking. ugh I hope they get another one.
"Pretty good"
I am already a big fan of Feehan's Carpathian series, and this book was another good addition. Good writing, enjoyable main characters, plus some past characters we know and love..
It was hard to listen to the narrator though. This book really needed a female voice for the heroine. The inflection for her was grating on my nerves at some parts..
If you like her other books then you will enjoy this one also.
"One of my favorites in the series!"
Out of the Dark series this is my 2nd favorite after Dark Prince where it all started.
Irritating, repetitive, inconsistent. Thankfully he only reads one more book of the series after this!
I seriously loved the strong female character in this one. It was a great change of pace that did nothing to detract from a series that I love so much. I wish they would get Juanita Parker back. She did a fabulous job narrating the earlier books!
"Whiny Natalya and wimpy prince"
Annoying, nasal voice for Natalya, and bland voice for the Prince. Hard to differentiate some voices. Feehan has given Natalya a cringe-making persona and vocabulary.
"What happened?"
This is a great book I read it already but the guy who reads it just drones on and on putting me to sleep. The action is boring!!
"Great book - not so great narration"
This is one of the best of the Dark Series, and I've read them all. This is however, one of few that I've listed to as an audible book. Oh my goodness, the man's voice was sad! It reminded me of someone doing an imitation (and not a particularly good one...) of an old Dracula movie. The female voice was good, but the male's was stilted and totally affected. Distracting to the story? Yes.
"Book - Excellent, Narrarator - Thumbs Down"
Okay - this is one of the better books from the Dark Series. As I've been listening to all of the audio - I refrained for a long time from buying this selection due to the narrarator. OMG - he is awful (mispronouncing names, his creepy voice, etc.). If the listeners have any say - Please choose a "woman" or a better narrarator for future books. With that said - the book was awesome. Lots of good information revealed in this one. For true fans - you'll love it. For first timers - try listening to 1 of the earlier books first.
"Deadly Demon"
I have not laughed so much as when I read this book. This was a good read/listen. I loved Natalya and Nicolae. There was so much action in this book and Natalya is such a strong character and the perfect compliment to Nicolae.
"Love it!!"
Passionate, Adventure, and the reader makes you feel like you are there watching a movie.
