Still in town are her beautiful younger sister, Tricia, with her cruel lies; Ken, Tricia's handsome husband, who married the wrong sister; Jigger, the pimp and ruffian with plans of his own; and Cash, proud, mysterious, and complex. It is dangerous for Schyler to even be near Cash, yet she must dare to confront the past - if there is to be any peace in Heaven.

"Carefully modulating pitch and varying the Louisiana bayou accent, Hill clearly delineates the characters, from the light voices of sisters...to the deep Cajun-tinged accent of Cash, sultry and sensual local bad boy. (AudioFile)
I've become a sucker for Audible. I love audiobooks, to the point of addiction. Especially a good romance audiobook... :)
"What a guilty pleasure! I love this book!"
This is such fun book. It's totally raunchy and even a little cheesy, but it works!!! It's one of my favorite all time "romance" books. Very sexy, and Dick Hill is GREAT as Cash Boudreax!
Shhhh! Don't tell anyone I love this book so much. ;) I've listened to this audio many times.
Best Sandra Brown I've read so far.
When I clean, drive or exercise I listen to romance. The steamier the better but it must have a great story as well!
"Spectacular, Kept me guessing the whole time!"
I decided to download this book because of the review by "Loupe". I was not disappointed! Sandra Brown has an amazing talent at creating suspenseful romance novels. She has a way of description that draws the listener/reader in and makes you feel a part of the story. I would recommend listening to this when you are free of considerable distraction. The details add so much to the story you don't want to miss them. This story had a very surprising ending that I did not see coming! I was very happy with this download and highly recommend it! Happy Listening!
"OMGoodness!"
This is a must read. This book was to hot to handle...lol...it was wonderful, O, I loved each character. The narrator was wonderful and I absoultely adored his character voices he especially did a good job with Cash...lol..suspensful, exciting, entertaining and a wonderful ending...
"Great Story & Excellent Narration"
This is a well written and excellently narrated book. Nora Roberts' gift for combining mystery and romance and Dick Hill's uncanny ability to embody each character through excellent narration are unbeatable. I bought the abridged version of this book two years ago and recently decided to listen to the unabridged format. The unabridged version fills in much needed information that provides clearer understanding of the characters and their motivations. This is a "who-done-it" combined with a sensuous love story. When her father becomes ill, Schyler Crandler returns to her Louisiana mansion following a self-imposed exile in London. While trying to keep her family logging business afloat, she slowly peels away family secrets, betrayals, and vendettas that involve Schyler, her family, and Cash Boudreau, a troubled, rugged, and womanizing Cajun who Schyler does not trust, but to whom she is inextricably attracted. Excellent!
"My favorite book"
I have read this book many times over the last 20 years, it is my all time favorite by Sandra Brown and getting to hear Dick Hill be the voice of Cash Boudreau was a real treat!
"AWESOME"
I had already read this book years ago, but being a huge Sandra Brown fan I decided to get the audio version just b/c it's been a while since I've read the book. I am so glad I did! This is the first audiobook I've bought that was narrated by Dick Hill and he SOLD the story. This was not just a story, but a production. Mr. Hill brought every character to life and told the story with such excitement and passion. As soon as I reached the end I immediately started over from the beginning. Of course I am a die hard fan of Ms. Brown and I already knew I loved the story. It is a little brutle how Schaler falls for the bad boy that treats her like garbage, but it's also very realistic how a lot of women go for the wrong man. Schaler is out to prove she deserves her place in life and although it's not her fault she was brought up in a life of wealth & privledge, Cash blames her for living the life he feels he should have lived. The story itself is great, but the narrator is what makes this a great buy!
"Great listen"
The end is predictable but getting there is an exciting story that moves fast. Narrator Dick Hill's immense talent makes it come alive. His voice is so versatile and his performance so absorbed in the story, it makes it a hard-to-put-down listen. Brown has written an engaging story but frankly, Hill could make a telephone book sound enjoyable
"Simmering!!!"
One of Sandra Brown's classic romance and suspense novels! The plot was slow at first but it didn't take long for it to grasp my attention. The narrator did a great job at conveying the emotions of every character throughout the book. I seriously couldn't wait to find out what would happen next!!! A must listen!!
"slow to get started but worth the wait..."
I almost didn't order this audio book due to a review which mentioned that there is graphic animal cruelty. Without giving away too much of the story the animals that are killed are 2 Pitt Bulls who have been conditioned for illegal dog fights. In the story the dogs had gotten out on 2 different occasions and attacked a child and adult. In addition since this story takes palce in a small southern town there was no use reporting the attacks to the police since they were patrons of the dog fights and would have been no help.
There's also an incident of dead cats being left on a door step but come on...if there isn't graphic descriptions it would be a really boring story!

"Mmmm....sooo good!"
I don't care what anyone says about Dick Hill's narration, I love that he reads this book to me. I don't know that the accents are genuine and I'm pretty sure he has the New Englander all wrong and still I'm glad he reads this book to me. It is just that good!! Try it, you may just like it.
