"A delightful series"
This is the third book in a series for children but adults will enjoy it also. This book is a good choice for a family car trip. The story picks up from book 2 with the start of the trial for a man accused of killing his wife. In the last book Theodore class had permission to attend the trial as part of the class work but as the second trial begins the permission is revoked and only Theodore may attend and report back to the class. The story moves quickly into one attack after another on Theodore, his locker at school broken into and items missing, tires slashed on his bike the he is accused of stealing. The story provides some lessons on bullying, facing false accusation and honesty. The pace of the story is fast, never a dull moment. Richard Thomas does a great job reading the story. If you listen to the book with your children or grandchildren there are a number of interesting discussion topics in the story that should lead to great family discussions. Everyone in the family will enjoy this book.
"Not a bad story!"
The Book, although (I feel) marketed for a younger crowd, was actually pretty good. I like the character. And the read was great!! I got the other two books on here. I should have gotten the earlier versions first. I Look forward to them. Theo is a good character.
"This is a kids story!"
At first I was ticked off at the narrator,,, then I was ticked off at the author. This is a KIDS story!!! Then I was ticked off at myself for not reading the summary in detail. I just didn't expect that from Grisham
THEN I cooled down and realized it really a pretty good story for the pre-teen listeners, especially if they can talk it over with their parents. Several topics are explored that are black & white for kids have lots of grey areas in reality. Making the right decision isn't all that clear
Well done
"This was the best of the Boone books so far"
I've heard three of the Theodore Boone books, and this was my favorite. I love the Uncle and his relevance to Theodore's evolution. The plot is good, and the situations believable. I am intrigued that Grisholm wrote these books for the teen audience. He did a superb job of it and made it interesting to adults too.
"Great listen for adults as well as children"
Solid good mystery with insight from the persecpective of an adolescent
Good for a repeat listen again and again
"Good but...."
Let me start by saying I enjoyed this book. If you've read any of Grisham's adult novels then you are aware how good he is at developing characters and this book was well done in that regard.
The book also held my interest til the end. It was a fun ride. Fun that is until the end. And that's where this book disappoints. There were several threads that ran through the story that were never resolved. These were not incidents that were mentioned in passing by some obscure character, but one thread in particular kept popping up over and over again. Part of the reason I was enthralled with the story was because I wanted to know what would happen to one particular character and how that situation would be resolved. When I finished the book and was left hanging, I felt cheated.
This series has a lot of potential and I hope Grisham will write more. I just hope that in some future book he will let us know the resolution to some of these dangling little threads.
"Overall, a easy read and easy listening"
Very easy read/listening
This is the first Grisham book I have ad a n an audio. Normally, I have the hard copy
His voice was level
Giggles
"My son loves this series"
The book was entertaining. John Grisham educates children about the court system. The books also introduce kids to law and court careers.
When they found out who really did it.
Theo is my favorite
Did Theo do it?
My ten year old son said, I really would want to make a movie out of this series.
"John Grisham from a different perspective"
I liked the way Theodore approached the challenges to solve the problem.
It kept my interest all the way to the end.
When I listen to Richard Thomas I think of Walton's John Boy. He performs without drawing attention to himself.
"Excellent Book"
The story line follows the past books well, and introduces the kinds of things kids sometimes have to deal with in school. The story was very engaging.
The solution to the mystery.
He is a staple to the Theodore Boone books, they wouldn't be the same without his voice for characterization.
It was hard to put down, I had to listen through the whole thing in one sitting.
