Publisher's Summary

The perfect life....

A successful lawyer and loving mother, Nina Bloom would do anything to protect the life she's built in New York - including lying to everyone, even her daughter, about her past. But when an innocent man is framed for murder, she knows that she can't let him pay for the real killer's crimes.

The perfect lie....

Nina's secret life began 18 years ago. She had looks to die for, a handsome police-officer husband, and a carefree life in Key West. When she learned she was pregnant with their first child, her happiness was almost overwhelming. But Nina's world is shattered when she unearths a terrible secret that causes her to run for her life and change her identity.

The perfect way to die....

Now, years later, Nina risks everything she's earned to return to Florida and confront the murderous evil she fled. In a story of wrenching suspense, James Patterson gives us his most head-spinning, action-filled story yet - a Hitchcock-like blend of unquenchable drama and pleasure.

    "Now You See Her"

I usually stay away from the James Patterson "collaborations" but this one was actually pretty good. A lot of action, sometimes incredible, a lot of twists and turns, I think I missed some clues while listening AT WORK, but overall a good mystery and a good listen. I would and I already have recommended it to friends.

"I am DONE with James Patterson"

I used to love his stuff. Over the last few years it has gotten harder and harder to get through his stuff (alone or as a co-author). The story line and its twists were over the top. The narrator was terrible. I agree with other reviews she overacted everything, sounded like a high schooler and made every character sound the same. The cheesy music...seriously...what were they thinking. I keep trying his stuff again thinking it will go back to the quality of his OLD Cross novels...but no such luck...it makes me sad.

"Strap Yourself In! GREAT ROLLER COASTER RIDE!"

Just when you think you have it all figured out, it takes another twist & turn. It was hard to get on with life once I downloaded this book. I wanted to listen all day. It took me some time to get used to the music & sound effects but (Elaina Davis) did a pretty good job. Great summer read!!

"not at all what I was expecting..."

Suspense, detective thrillers are my favorite genre and I usually like James Patterson. This was a disappointment for sure. I kept waiting for the "twists and turns" and "roller coaster" ride other reviewers mentioned and it just didn't happen. They must not have read some of the barn burners I've enjoyed. The plot here was terribly contrived and the scenarios too far fetched...(not to mention that the plot line has been overdone on mediocre made for TV movies for a decade) to be believable. The dialog was juvenile and the characters shallow and totally predictable. I think I'm done with Patterson for a bit..... sorry, James, I really did want to like it, but this one was a let down.

    "Stop soundtracks NOW"

The story was fine, so was the narrator. The background music drove me crazy at the "dramatic" parts. They might as well added a laugh track too

    "Disappointing"

Without a doubt, this is the worst audiobook I've ever heard. The character development was shallow, the plot unlikely. The dialogue was unimaginative and repetitive. The narration was uninspired. After my initial disappointment with the book, I continued listening because I assumed it had to get better. I was mistaken.

    "Entertaining"

Everytime I thought this book would end, it got going in a different direction. I walk around the block (3 miles) and listen to my audio books and I'm constantly entertained and that's all I'm really looking for to keep me walking. I'd never listened to James Patterson and really enjoyed this book and several Alex Cross books too. Keep them coming.

"Patterson should quit collaborating and write"

Patterson can write a good book. He used to.

But now he keeps co-authoring or whatever he's doing and is losing a lot in quality of reputation. His name on the cover used to mean something, but not much anymore. This book was so contrived as to be laughable. No one person can have that many runs of bad luck or that many magical saves.

And no one author can write that many books. I think he's contributing his name and not much else.

I didn't care for the narration, but HATED the sound effects. If I want music, I turn on music. If I want a book, I want a book, not music.

"Kept Me Coming Back For More!"

My reivew title says it all. What better compliment could a suspense author want? Great development of characters, each very colorful, and the intrigue was artfully woven. Each time I anticipated the book was about to come to an end, there would be another twist and the novel would continue on. Well done!

"I Really Liked This One..Really Good!"

I liked this story very much. It kept me listening because it was fast paced. I thought the narrator was good but really a bit too light sounding for this story, although, I still really did enjoyed it. I really like all the Patterson and Ledwidge collaborations.
