Publisher's Summary

Dear Listener, If you've been to Cedar Cove before, we've probably met. You can usually find me either at home or at the public library, where I work. I've lived in this town all my life and raised two daughters here. But my husband and I - well, about six months ago, he disappeared. Just...disappeared. Where's Dan? Why did he go? Who's he with? Will I ever find out?

My hometown, my family and friends, bring me comfort during this difficult time. Comfort and a sense of shelter. I'm continually reminded that life can and does go on. For instance, everyone's been discussing weddings and babies lately. Justine - the only daughter of my best friend, Olivia Lockhart - impulsively got married a little while ago. My own daughter Kelly recently had a baby. Unfortunately, she refuses to accept that Dan might not return to see his first grandchild. My older daughter, Maryellen, is more realistic. I think she's seeing a new man, but for some reason she won't tell me who it is. Then there's Jack, who's been pursuing a romance with Olivia, and his son, Eric, and Eric's girlfriend, Shelly (I think she's pregnant), and Zach and Rosemary Cox, whose marriage is reputedly on the skids and...Well, just come on over and we'll talk. --Grace Sherman, 204 Rosewood Lane, Cedar Cove, Washington

"Love the concept, annoyed by characters."

I spend hours on the road and love audio books. Easy listening is my favorite on the road, so this series should be a good choice. The narrator is wonderful, the idea of a small town followed in a series is great ... but.... the characters kill me. The constant angst, the constant drama, the constant misunderstanding of a good guy ... and on and on. I "like" the people, but their behavior is not to be believed...for example: girl breaks off relationship w/older, manipulative man who has offered to "share" her (in very insulting manner) w/new man in her life. She marries new man, but then continues to have lunch w/old flame due to not wanting to hurt his feelings.... really? Of course you expect some of this, but the frequency is annoying. It's almost as if every time every character faces a choice, they make the wrong one. Probably just me....

"Too many secrets...women so set in their ways :/"
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Stubborn women in the first 2 books are so set in their ways. I was frustrated with the women characters especially. I felt like we had to pull teeth to get these women to come around. I enjoyed the first book, but the 2nd book dragged...I don't think I will continue with the series. :(

    "Dan's mysterious disappearance revealed!"

I'm really amazed that I'm enjoying this series of books since it's not my normal type of book. But I've found them to be entertaining and enjoyable. Not a thought provoking book, but you end up feeling connected to the characters and wanting things to work out for them. For those who read the first book of the series and were left wondering what happened to Dan, soon to be ex husband of Grace (the home owner of 204 Rosewood Lane), you're questions will be answered in this book.
I'd recommend the books be read/listened to in order, though, since each book catches you up with what happened in the last, so if read out of order, that would be a bit of a spoiler for you.

I wish I hadn't waited so long to listen to the second book in this series. Just like the first Ms Macomber draws you into the characters life. I never wanted to stop listening!

    "Just my opinion"

The only thing I can say is I didn't finish this. Maybe someday I will give it another shot. I try really hard not to write a reveiw that contains spoilers, but this just cant be helped. You have a woman from the first book who is strong and does things that are jaded on the surface to supposedly protect her heart, then of course ends up with the perfect guy in the end. Then in the second book here, she thinks "oh its ok to go off to private lunches with the guy everyone in town thought she was sleeping with , while her new husband is off on business, he wont mind. Come on.....REALLY!! Younger readers won't get this anology, but it made me feel like when I said I would never watch Dallas again if Sue Ellen went back to J.R. AGAIN!! By the way I never did watch it again LOL.

Nice and light series, ongoing, very white bread account of small town and a few families.
