Then Lucas Cochran came back to Colorado. In the drought-cursed high country, he needed Angel Creek and its cool water to turn his Double C ranch into the cattle dynasty he craved. His ruthless ambition guaranteed he would fight to take it away from the black-haired, green-eyed spitfire who claimed it.
But the passion that blazed when Dee Swann and Lucas Cochran met shocked them both. Unbidden, unexpected, their kisses swept them toward a dangerous destiny where dreams might be scattered...men could be killed...or love would be born as wild and unfettered as this glorious frontier.

"Very sexual..."
This book is WAY more sexual than I had expected for a historical western written over ten years ago. It happens to have a good storyline and likable characters as well, so I gave it a high rating. If you like your books with lots of heat, you won't be disappointed.
"A bit raw"
Although a well-written and narrated story, the sexual interaction was a bit raw. Good historical and practical information about a woman living alone in the old west.
Researcher, editor, writer, francophone, anglophile. Started listening to audiobooks to conciliate my love of knitting and novels.
"5-star narration, good historical western romance"
Narration: Was excellent, Ross has a pleasing voice.
Story: I personally found it good fun and easy listening. Hotness level is definitely steamy.
The story was a bit cheesy at times, but it's a romance, so it was alright - I was totally expecting it. The characters were predictable, but it was to e expected in this type of novel. I'm still new to this genre, I'm usually more into Jane Austen, George Eliot type books, epic-fantasy (lotr, R.R. Martin, etc). But my line of work is so serious, and I read ALL DAY, so it's nice to have some easy listening, something not too serious.
I love books, it's my great escape.
"Hot and Wild Old West, Linda Howard does it again"
Don’t let the story about the Old West keep you from getting this book. It turned out to be the Hot and Wild Old West. The relationship between the very likable main characters is sensual story and moving. Even the relationship between to of the secondary characters is sweet and moving. All in all it’s a good book. I would recommend it to other readers.
"Passionate, evocative, memorable!!"
I just blew another day listening to another fabulous Linda Howard book! And I really enjoyed this one! Wonderful, vibrant characters, great plot development, richly passionate, achingly tender and heart wrenching, -this is definitely a book to come back to!
Excellent narration by the talented Natalie Ross!
"Great story"
I loved this story, very believable. The secondary story was a little less intriging then the main but it was still very entertaining. The Narrator was very good as well. Steamy but not dirty.
"Not Always an Easy Listen but a Compelling Listen"
I read a few of the negative reviews and hesitated using a credit to get this book.
I have recently been introduced to Linda Howard and honestly love the light and fluffy books (Open Season) as much as the paranormal (Cutting Edge) and the edgier dramas (Ice).
This a book set in 1876 where women were property and property was rarely owned by women. The actions of the male lead seemed harsh and frankly sometimes disturbing but in that time and in that place he actually was much less a neanderthal and much more a metro-man than one would suspect.
I thought this was an excellent use of my credit.
I love a story that can educate me about a different time and place without feeling like I am being educated.
"Very Disappointing. Don't Bother."
Have read quite a few Linda Howard novels and this is one of her weakest. No real plot. Poor narration. Rape passing for sex. Save your credit or $.
