"Some bits funny, some not"
I always enjoy Wilmore's spots on The Daily Show. His mild take on racism has some unexpected reversals -- like the title, "I'd rather we got casinos". The bits in this book are in the same vein but most go on too long and lack punch. I would say it's amusing most of the time and funny only some of the time. His delivery is perfect though. He is an excellent narrator.
"If you like Larry Wilmore you'll like this!"

"2 stars and a lemon"
Wilmore has his moments of brilliance, and he truly is a funny guy, but this collection gets redundant and wearing. Maybe because he's such a good physical comedian, some of his material falls flat without the accompanying shtick. In places where he's "interviewing" another character, it becomes hard to follow. I didn't give up on this book, but I wish I had...

"Great title, the rest... meh."
I love Larry Wilmore. His segments on The Daily Show are hilarious. So perhaps my expectations were a little high going in. I hate to slam the guy, but I really felt let down by the quality of his book.
As with most comedians who take to writing humor books, his is built on "chapters" that are really just stand-up bits writ large. Unfortunately, with Wilmore this comes out as a watering down rather than as an opportunity for him to riff on a topic. The premises are kind of clever, the bits and routines are humorous, but I found myself getting bored waiting for them to pay off; few of them ever did.
Take a second and look at the expression on Wilmore's face on the cover of his book. Go ahead, scroll back up. That expression he's wearing reflects how I felt after listening to this book. "Meh."
If you like him and wish him success as I do, great. But rather than throw money at his publisher as a way of demonstrating your love for or appreciation of him, just send him a check for the amount the audiobook would have cost you. I wish I would have done it.
"Laugh out loud at times"
Enjoyable book with laugh out loud moments throughout the book. Some of the themes could have been less repetitive but overall an entertaining listen.
"Horrible."
Could only take about fifteen minutes of this book. Don't waste your time or money.
"Very Funny... at times"
The book has its very high points and its very low ones too. I enjoyed the first half of the book but started to lose interest as it kept going, as it keep me waiting for a laugh.
"Too racist"
I couldn't make it thru half of this audio book before shutting it off. I found it too racist twards all nationalities.
