After the murder of a teenage girl, a mysterious man in a black leather jacket was seen lurking near the crime scene. Investigative reporter Tessa Novak has him in her sights as the culprit.
That man was Julian Darcangelo, an undercover FBI agent working with the Denver police. He's closing in on the trail of a human trafficker and killer. Tessa's accusations could blow his cover, and he wants her off the investigation.
But just as Tessa has made Julian a target of interest, she is now a target of the killer. And as they are forced to trust each other, their physical attraction escalates as intensely as the threat from a ruthless murderer who wants to see both of them dead...

"Calling on her own experiences, reporter turned author Clare adds a realistic edge to her suspenseful writing. . . . Clare definitely seems to have found her niche." (Romantic Times)
"Julian Darcangelo, well, WOW!"
In a heartbeat! It is worth the repeat just to get involved in hearing how Tessa and Julian met up, and fell in love, in spite of the whirlwind of crime, and terror and danger spinning around them . . .
“Julian placed her purse in the front seat. "She's got a loaded double-deuce in her purse, Peterson, though I'm not sure she knows how to use it. And be sure to book her on one count of falsifying information on a driver's license while you're at it."
"What?" she cried. "You're just making stuff up!"
He pulled off his shades, met her gaze, saw the outrage and disbelief in her eyes. "It says you weigh one-fifteen, but i know for a fact you're not a pound under one-twenty."
Her cheeks flushed crimson. "Oooh!”
Julian has a way of getting under Tessa's skin from the git-go, and it all started with this scene . . .
Yep, you betcha, but couldn't do it-life happens, and I had to listen in bits and pieces---arrrrgghhhhh!!!
Again, kudos to Kaleo Griffith, for his top notch narration, acting ability, and his uncanny way to get each character Right, including all the secondary people as well!
Audible addicted love mystery, lately stuck on love story. Mother of 1 Labrador and 1 perfect man. Work way too hard, and so ready to be retired
"Not my cup of tea"
The story base on human trafficking just a big turn off for me. Trying to make it through this one. I enjoy FBI story but to seriously close to real life suffering
"Suspense and Romance"
I had read this novel a couple years ago, and immediately became a Pamela Claire fan. When I heard this was out in audio, I grabbed it. It is spine chilling, romantic and sweet and I couldn't turn it off, even though I had already read the story!
The growth of the relationship between Kara and Reese. It wasn't a meet and jump in bed kind of thing, although Kara and Margaritas made it close. Also the immediate acceptance of Kara's son by Reese.
Kaleo Griffith totally brought this story to life! I could listen to him read just about anything. Looking forward to listening to the next I-Team book!
I laughed, and felt heart racing fear, at different times. Loved the romance.
Recommend this series, and applaud Kaleo Griffith on his performance.
I read over 200 books per year, but I am an audiobook newbie. It's looking like reading first and listening later is my new M.O.
"The Perfect First Digital Audiobook Experience"
The last audiobook I listened to in its entirety was in 1988, as I process the written word better than I do the spoken word. I read the the currently available I-Team books last year, and have followed the publishing progress of the audio books closely. After listening to the samples of the talented Kaleo Griffith I decided upon the second book in the series mainly because I was most interested in how he voiced Julian Darcangelo. I was extremely pleased with his interpretation of Julian and the rest of the characters. If I were to be critical, my least favorite "voice" would be that of Tessa's. The Southern U.S. dialect is a tricky one for me. Kaleo's delivery did not irritate me at all, but I didn't look forward to hearing Tessa the way I did the other characters. I read the book in June 2012 and as with all of Pamela Clare's current works I appreciated each aspect of it. After listening to samples of some of my favorite "reads" I didn't find another narrator who I wanted to start out with more than Mr. Griffith. His narrative voice is so clear, rich, and resonant; his cadence was perfect. I've read some reviews in which listeners felt the need to increase the speed of the audiobook; that was NOT an issue with this book at all. I thought Kaleo handled the stammers, pauses, and character changes beautifully! Also, being that these I-Team books are steamy as well as suspenseful, I *really* appreciated his handling of the racier parts of the book. Oh yeah, VERY nice! Overall, I was SO pleased with this first real audiobook experience that I have already bought books 1,3, and 4. I'm sure I'll have 5 and 5.5 before too much longer. I think I'll always prefer reading, but with proven reads being narrated by such talented artists as Kaleo Griffith, I think it's safe to admit that I shall end up selectively enthusiastic over audiobooks as well.
"Julian Oh Julian where for art thou is my Julian"
Tall dark and sexy Julian Darcangelo is all man and the bad boy of every woman’s dreams. How can Tessa resist falling for him in this second installment of the I team. I enjoy the balance of a good story, fun romance and the woman of the I team. This story doesn’t disappoint. The interaction between Tessa and Julian keeps you engaged from beginning to end. And I am glad the author stayed with the same narrator who has grown on me more with this book. Worth a credit, if you like a good story with romance and danger thrown in to keep you guessing.
Love Romantic Erotica with a twist , thrill, suspense and a great story !
"Oh yea ! Julian and this story , just plain great!"
Love this series! The investigative team is so exciting and the woman are great ! Each story is so intense. Anxious for the next and the next ! Not a disappointment in any area ! Julian is soooo sexy !
"A Man That Knows How to Work It!"
good story with a bit of mystery. Very investigative type of story line. Dialogue better than average.
Great reader, Kaleo Griffith....whoa what a great sexy reading voice. He is making this series.
when the 3 men paint the Trim, and know how to work it. Coke commercial move over.
our hero, is as sexy as they get. Ms Clare knows how to write 'em.
You do not have to read in order as they stand alone. The friends names link the stories, but the characters really do not. Read the summery and reviews to pick. I am getting all of them as the reader is so good.
"Outstanding"
I would absolutely listen to Hard Evidence again. I loved the Kaleo's portrayal of the character's.
I loved the whole book. There wasn't one part that stood out more than another.
No, I've not experienced Kaleo's work before but I will look for him in the future.
Make no mistake between my personality and my attitude. My personality is who I am, my attitude depends on who you are.........
"A little disappointing....."
Coming off the first book which I loved loved loved; I wasn't as fond of this one. The first half of the book was a little drawn out as the story was set up and because of the profound story-line, it was hard for me to engage in the romance.
The narrator was wonderful as he was in the first; definitely one of the most "sexy" male voices!!!!
I can find a book to love in any genre -- a beautifully written classic, an interesting mystery or sci-fi, a trashy romance. Bring it!
"Julian is smokin' HOT!"
STORY - Hard Evidence is a great romance thriller. While the love scenes are graphic and hot, this book is definitely NOT a dirty book with a weak plot just tossed in. Julian and Tessa have a sizzling romance amidst a dangerous and very exciting investigation into human trafficking in Denver. Julian is a cocky, dedicated FBI agent who absolutely could not be any sexier. Tessa is a newspaper reporter who vacillates between being really smart and TSTL.
In the very beginning I wasn't sure I'd enjoy the story. There are a few corny scenes that made me roll my eyes, but somehow they would still make me smile. Very quickly the story becomes interesting and suspenseful, and the chemistry between Julian and Tessa becomes....WOO-HOO! The ending is good, and the story stands alone.
NARRATION - The reader does a pretty good job, but Tess's southern accent leaves a lot to be desired. Julian's voice is wonderfully soft, masculine and sexy. It is great (and refreshing) to have a male read a romance novel. After all, romance novels are for us girls, right?
OVERALL - Highly recommended. This is not exactly classic literature, but it is definitely romantic, hot and suspenseful. My definition of a great escape!
