Though Rylann Pierce tried to fight the sparks she felt for billionaire heir Kyle Rhodes the night they met, their sizzling chemistry was undeniable. But after being stood up on their first date, Rylann never expected to see him again. So when she finds herself face to face with Kyle in a courthouse nine years later, she's stunned. More troubling to the beautiful Assistant U.S. Attorney is that she's still wildly attracted to him.
Just released from prison, Kyle Rhodes isn't thrilled to be the star witness in a high-profile criminal case - but when Rylann comes knocking at his door, he finds she may be the one lawyer he can't say no to. Still as gorgeous and sharp-tongued as ever, she lays down the law: she doesn't mix business with pleasure. But Kyle won't give up on something he wants - and what he wants is the one woman he's never forgotten....

"Enjoyable Book - But Not a Romantic Suspense"
Average
Kyle Rhodes - he was just a cool character. Had some really funny lines.
Although I enjoyed this book - I am disappointed that the second and third installments in this series had very little if any real action or suspense in them. The first book was the perfect balance of that and what I anticipated in the second and third books. The second had some action/suspense, but still nothing like the first one. This one - to me - was a straight contemporary romance. So - it makes the series a bit out of balance as far as theme goes. You think if the books is built around FBI/U.S. Attorneys offices that their will be a meaty action/suspense story line in each installment. But sadly - not so much.
"Very Likeable New Series!"
Yes. I would listen to About that Night again because it's an enjoyable story and I like the characters.
The most memorable moment for me was when Kyle Rhodes shut down Twitter. I'm not the biggest fan of social networking, so the notion of this is thoroughly entertaining for me.
I have mixed feelings about Karen Whites performance.
What I like is that she obviously has a wonderful voice for narration, she's able to create and sustain different voices for each character and she's able to effectively convey the emotion of each scene. Those are the 3 factors that need to be present for me to enjoy an audio book.
HOWEVER and that's a big however-she has this way of way of narrating - specifically, but not limited to - conversations between characters in what I've named a high-low voice. I call it high-low because she'll start talking in a very pleasant falsetto, but will then suddenly drop down into a pleasant baritone-or vice versa. BUT the journey from falsetto to baritone is NOT pleasant, it's weird. I don't know anyone who talks like this in real life and if they did I would probably avoid talking to them at all.
No. There were some lovely romantic gestures made that would make most women swoon, but I wasn't especially "moved".
"Enjoyable"
I enjoyed the storyline. It was enough different to make it interesting. It's a light read. I recommend the book. However,...narration is so personal. Readers I love others criticize. I cannot figure out what I didn't like about this narrator but I couldn't listen more than 30 min or so...she just lost me. I found my mind wandering. I had to back up on this book so many times, finally just went all the way through. Her voice is not annoying...something in the voice pattern I think. Hope you don't have that problem.
To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.
"What Happened? I feel cheated!!"
The first two books in this series was great. This one however, lacked action, no FBI involvement, and a sappy uninspired love story, that was really boring. I gave the story 2 stars because that is about all it deserves. The story is Kyle Rhodes continuation after his sister gets him out of prison, we get more back story on his and his sisters life, that I could have done without, and Rylann the district attorney who comes on scene just in time for his new sentencing after making an agreement with the FBI in the previous book. This book left a lot to be desired, the whole story was totally off, uninteresting, and no action at all. There wasn't anything in this book to keep my interest and I barely finished it.
Tell us about yourself!
"Loved this series!"
I think this was my favorite one. Rather, Kyle has been my favorite character throughout. I loved all the books in this series. I hope there are more.
"Enjoyable."
Yes. I would recommend this book as a good love story.

"What a fun series!"
Okay, I am loving this series. I think what I love most about this book, and the series as a whole, is that the author creates couples that are truly good matches. Rylann is a smart & successful U.S. Attorney who is deeply passionate about her job. Kyle ends up being much more than just a billionaire heir. By the time they finally get together he is a self-made man ready to embark on a new & exciting business venture.
Compared to the previous two books, this one had fewer action scenes. Instead James seems to focus more on the emotional/psychological. One interesting, and in my opinion good, difference was that Rylann & Kyle continually reminisced about their past. James uses these memories to explain how they first met, the reasons their other serious relationships didn't work out, and how they've changed from the people they were when they first met nine years ago.
Karen White continues to do a good job as narrator. I say "good" instead of "excellent" because she has a certain style of reading that some people may not enjoy...a kind of rhythmic pattern. But I think that once you get accustomed to her voice you won't notice this pattern as much.
"Taking a chance on a bad boy"
This story is romance from beginning to end. You start off thinking come on Kyle really big boy just because a girl dumps you. But then he grows on you and yes he does charm you. And then you can see the deli mina Rylann has to face. But through it all if you are a romantic you’ll find yourself cheering for them. I like the story.
"A bit Anti-Climactic"
I have thoroughly enjoyed the two previous books in this series, and am fond of Karen White's narration. But I found this one to be lacking a bit compared to the others. I suppose I liked the suspense of the other two and this one was more of just your standard romance novel feel.
Still very enjoyable though! I will continue with this series.
