Deeper Water: The Tides of Truth Series, Book 1

I learned something from listening to this book. From now on, I plan to read the comments on Amazon before choosing a book. I do not agree with the comments that were posted on this page when I made my choice. I listened to more than half of this book. I kept waiting for something to happen. I honestly thought this was in the “mystery” genre, because the publisher’s summary said, “Robert Whitlow’s legal thrillers draw favorable comparisons to the works of best-selling author John Grisham”. I found the protagonist to be very shallow, and quite childish for a woman finishing 2nd year of law school. She meets a Christian guy when she takes a summer job at a law firm in Savannah, goes on one date with him, and feels it necessary to call home to find out if she should continue a relationship with him??!! I’ve been a Christian for more than 30 years, and I must say that I’m not aware of any Christian families who believe that women must always wear dresses or skirts and never wear make-up. I agree that we must use wisdom in all things, but I found this family that Mr. Whitlow has created to be totally unrealistic. I will not be purchasing any more of this author’s books.

This story is a pleasant adventure. I liked the challenge of being encouraged to not shrink from my convictions at work and in my daily life. Could I be as bold?

When I downloaded this book (special offers on the first of a series) I had no idea it was Christian fiction. At first I was a little amazed at how overt the faith of the characters (Tammi, Zack, Vince) are in their beliefs, but it was a wonderful story. I like that even though they are Christians they are still human, misunderstand situations and people's motives, but they always seek guidance. Interestingly, even though they are all believers they don't always agree on what is the right action. The book was very real, reminded me of my workplace and demonstrated how standing up for the right thing, even if it might hurt us personally, has major reward.

It also pointed out how sometime, for the best of reasons, we can misunderstand people's motives and make swift judgments that are just wrong. It reminds me of the trueism that we judge ourselves by our motives and intentions but we more often judge others by their actions without trying to discover their motivations/intentions. Good book!

I am looking for other Robert Whitlow books to download!

After six chapters, this story is still plodding along.

Something with more suspense and action

I don't blame her, the story is tedious.

I would condense the background information on the main character into (at most) two chapters.

After reading the reviews on this book, I expected a much more engaging story. I gave it six chapters to pull me into the story, but it's just too tedious to continue.

If you want evangelical and Christian legal novels, this will be great for you. If not, read a fuller review than what Audible provides.

Great stories by Robert help us raise our faith and belief that God is still speaking to his people today

I was sure I knew the ending. However, nice twist.

What really happen - nice twist.

This is one of the more enjoyable books I've listened to in a while. The plot and characters make sense, the dialog is believable, and the story kept my attention without being too intense. The book was also well read.

I would compare this book to any by Dee Henderson.

Whitlow has developed an enjoyable plot with interesting characters. The story includes humor and seriousness, conflict and resolution, and a Christian framework without coming off as preachy.
