    "Good Book, Bad Narrator"

I've read this Garwood - and several of her other works - many times and was delighted to see that it's now at audible.com but was disappointed to see that Anne Flosnik as narrator. Ms. Flosnik does a satisfactory presentation of female voices, however, she consistently destroys male voices. She makes male characters sound like arrogant, expiring Darth Vaders making them - IMHO - boring and unlikeable. I think Simon Prebble does a much more credible presentation.

    "Honor's Splendour"

If you like a lot of fluff and a weak plot with lots of sexual romance, then this book is for you. It was not for me. I would have liked a stronger plot and a different reader. The title was strong and interesting, but the novel didn't do the title justice.

    "WARNING- Horrible narrator"

I don't even know if the story is any good since the narrator was so terrible. I was so distracted by how irritating her voice was that I couldn't concentrate on the story. The way that she spoke grated on my nerves. There were times that I actually cringed. Sometimes I just rolled my eyes. I had a hard time liking any of the charactors just because her irritating voice destroyed them. Two thumbs down on this one. The only positive side to this is that I won't ever spend any money on an audio-book again without checking out the sample and reading the reviews first!

    "Good Story...Awful Narrator"

I think the story is a good one but it was spoiled in part by the poor narration. The narrator has an annoying habit of breathily dragging out the last word of certain phrases very unnaturally, especially the word "her", which becomes "hhheeerrrrrr". Ugh! I wasn't sure I could make it through the entire book for that reason.

"Story is great, narrator is terrible"

This story is great, however Anne Flosnik is terrible. Her voice sounds gruff, gravelly, and strained from speaking too low. It's almost painful to listen to. It's very disappointing considering the story is so good.

    "Wonderful story, pleasing audio book"

This is one of my favorite Julie Garwood books! I was a bit leary when I saw that Anne Flosnik was the narrator but I feel she did a nice job with this book.

Unlike Gentle Warrior where Ms. Flosnik groweled the Geoffrey's lines, she used a much better voice for Duncan.

    A very enjoyable listen!

"narrator is distracting, story is wonderful"
What did you love best about Honor's Splendour?

Strong characters and a compelling setting lay a firm foundation for a good read.

How could the performance have been better?

At the beginning of the book the narrator ends most every sentence with a breathy sigh and continues to repeat unfortunate choice of cadence frequently throughout the book - it distracts repeatedly from the story.

    Any additional comments?

The narrator has a good variety of character accents. It seems that she's working so hard on her accents that she looses her ability to vary her cadence and tenor. The story was well written and compelling and I'll look forward to reading 'Garwood's work again.

    "Great book. Bad narrator"

The book was awesome like the rest of Garwood's book, but gosh, The narrators voice was bland and irritating.

    "Good book"

I enjoyed this book very much. The story was good the characters good. And the narrator did a pretty decent job. Got it on sale for 4.95 and it was worth it.

"Julie Garwood is Awesome ~ Narrator is Horrible!"

I thought I would give Anne Flosnick another chance...unfortunately, not any better. Will not purchase another audiobook with this narrator, period.
