"Awesome!"
These books are great! This is my 6th read in this series & I can not imagine any other narrator. Ms Ericksen has become these characters for me. I love the In Death/Eve Dallas series & will keep purchasing them as long as she keeps writing them.
Ardent Audible listener with a long commute!
"Pleasantly surprised by Lt. Eve Dallas"
I didn’t look too closely at the description of “Holliday in Death” when I found it on my sale list, and it wasn’t what I was expecting. I thought I was getting a legal/criminal procedural thriller with a strong sense of place – like Kathy Reich’s forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan series (the basis for television’s “Bones”); Linda Fairstein’s series based New York District Attorney Alex Cooper; or Lincoln Child’s Pendergast series.
“Holliday in Death” is a legal/criminal procedural thriller, based on a future New York. I was so dismayed when I realized I’d gotten a sci-fi romance criminal mystery thriller, I would have returned the book – but at the time, I was on a long drive with no reliable internet access, and I was stuck. So I listened – and was hooked..
The main character, Lt. Eve Dallas, is strong, no nonsense, and fun. I like Robb’s technique of not describing her in too much detail, so it’s possible to imagine her how you want her to look. She’s also vulnerable, and needs the people who love her to help her.
The plot was twisty, and pleasantly unpredictable – and it kept me wondering “Who done it?” until close to the end.
The narration left me confused – since it was the first J.D. Robb book I’d listened to, I wasn’t sure by the narration if Dallas’ assistant, Peabody, was a person or a droid. The narration of that key character was clipped and mechanical. I’ve discovered when a narration is remembered because it changes a character, it’s not a good narration.
I don’t see myself ever reading Norah Roberts, the romance writer. That’s a genre I never took to. However, I expect I will listen to more of Norah Roberts writing as J.D. Robb.
"Great Story - Great Reader!"
I love all of the In Death books and this is one of my favorites. Susan Ericksen IS the voice of Dallas and Roarke. She was great in the first book and gets better every time. Each character has a distinct and instantly recognizable voice. I can't imagine one of these books without her.
"Love Eve Dallas"
I am have listened to books 1 thru 7.5 and am not sick of this story line at all. I love Lieutenant Eve Dallas and her million +dollar husband Roarke. Cannot wait for more. Good thing JD Robb (Nora Roberts) keeps 'em coming!
"Hair raising"
This was one of my favorite readings. It kept me on my toes the entire time. Loved it!
It was nail bitting
Peabody
Every part of this book moved me
"Better than I expected!!"
Good, great, grand! These books always keep me guessing and this one was no different! The perfect blend of mystery, suspense, and romance!
Definitely Dallas. Susan got the tone just right - exactly as I imagined her.
Have you been naughty, or nice?
If you are a fan of this series, you will enjoy this audiobook!
"Pretty good :)"
I enjoyed this mystery. The plot line was better than most.. I did figure out who-did-it.. well, mostly about 2/3 through the book.. but, still wasn't 100% sure!
Ms. Dallas, et al. appeared to me a bit more realistic in this installment, except for Roarke who is just not a real man, in my humble opinion! I wish, I could get dressed for a party in 5 minutes!! I liked the bit about the couple making their own holiday traditions. It was rather poignant.
Ms Robb used more of her characters here, and that was great. We got to know a bit more about them.
The narration was great, as usual!
Yes, this installment was worth the credit.
"Christmas with Death"
This is my favorite book in the 'In Death' series so far. All the Characters have been well established in the series and now the story is more about the interaction between the characters. Someone murder his true love this holiday seasons and the way it looks he will have 12 of them when he is done. Dallas and her team must try to stop him before he completes his goal. Susan Ericksen has become the voice of Eve Dallas, she has made Eve Dallas as much had J.D. Robb has. You will not want to stop lessening to this book. "Holiday in Death" will make you want to lessen to every 'In Death' book just to find out what is going to happen next.
"Just love the narrator"
Yes, Good series
Shows how Dallas gets involved with her growing number of friends.
