Romancing Mister Bridgerton: The Epilogue II

I am a great fan of Julia Quinn and have read all of her books and was hopeful that this epilogue would be equally entertaining. Alas due to the fact that the actor reading this novelette seems to have completely missed the mark with his voice characterizations it made it impossible for me to enjoy the story. The charming Violet Bridgerton comes across as a querulous old lady and Colin seems to be an insufferable prig without the smallest touch of humour in his voice. While I realize that each reader creates his or her own mental voice for a character the actor reading this story is way off the mark.

to the narrator's version of the epilogue. The Narrator's voice, acting, etc. ruined the book for me. Was so glad that Julia Quinn's book were finally available in audiobook version, bought all of the epilogues from this series but was sooo disappointed. Not with the book itself but with the narrator.

I made a point of noting & remembering narrator's name and will stay away, far away from any book narrated by him. I wish the books were all read by Simon Preble!

I ordered this audiobook by mistake -- I clicked on "one click" thinking I was getting a Kindle book. This is when I learned that that handy button that pops up on Amazon that says, "Ordered by accident? Cancel now" doesn't pop up for audiobooks. Apparently, it's also impossible to return it for a refund. I was stuck with it.

Ok, so I like Julia Quinn's books, and I had a trip coming up, so I decided to save it and listen to it in the car during my trip. This was my second disappointment. I really hated the portrayal of Colin. I pictured Colin as a young, gay, happy-go-lucky kind of guy. On this audiobook, he sounded like a bored, jaded, flat kind of guy, tolerating his wife and family, wanting to get back to his wing chair, his cigar and his port. A bore. What a let down!

This was my first audiobook, and it might be my last.

I have been waiting over a year for this book in a complete unabridged version. I was told that there is not enough interest, which I find doubtable. If you are going by sales from an epilogue please don't, instead go by the sales of Ms. Quinn's other books. This is my favorite book and I desperately want to see it in a complete unabridged version performed by either, Susan Duerdan, Justine Eyre, Roselyn Landor or Simon Prebble.

The story is a good epilogue...the narrator is not very enjoyable for me. I did not like how he does female voices. His voice is fine...just not for this...

The content of the epilogue would have been better read instead of listened to. The reader uses characterizations that sound more in keeping in something Charles Dickens would have written. I swear his reading of Colin sounds like Bob Cratchet from A Christmas Carole! And the female voices were really bad. Julia Quinn wrote a very good second epilogue, it's just too bad it was read by Kevan Brighting.

Do not read this, unless you have read the next book in the series.
