    "An Excellent Job By Thorne"

There are better and worse audiobook narrators. Thorne is one of the best. His reading does justice to "The Pilgrim of Hate" by Ellis Peters, achieving nuances of humor and tension without sacrificing character. I'll listen to anything he reads.

"Not the best in the series"

The story is nice, but the mystery is not nearly as well developed as others in the series. There are a number of important references to previous books. While these are explained, it would probably not be best for someone to start the series with this book.
