Bones to Ashes

This book has an average plot with shallow character development. Another downside is the heavy reliance on the French language which is then translated to English. Those who enjoy the scientific exploration of various forensics fields will love the technical aspects of the story; those who dont, will be extremely bored. Having lived in the Miramichi area; I found the Acadian stereotyping a bit ridiculous. In short, large chunks of this book shouldve been edited to make a tighter more suspenseful story line, the plot drags and the overall narrative is only mildly entertaining.

But I've certainly enjoyed her in audio.

And this was a good one.

No artificial scary parts, for instance.

Mind you I don't mind getting a lecture on how skeletons age along the way.

New to Kathy Reichs, I was very pleasantly surprised by the richness of the mystery, the soundness of the forensic science, and her ability to build believable and knowable charaters. Good buy and excellent read (if you can say that about audio books?)

I almost turned off my IPod. The first half was far too technical. When you have to define every other word, you bring the rhythm of the plot to a halt. We should have cared about the main character but for the first half I could not see the point. Then came the second half and this is when the author grabbed me. That is when you get the inkling that the crime(s) are the worst imaginable and you get into the who done it mind frame. Suffer the beginning and you might like how it ends.

Usual fare....but it finally gets good at the end. Fabulous narrative by the reader..that's the REAL plus.

I enjoyed this listen. The style of the author and the narrator work well together. The story moves well and kept my interest. It is a good book.

It seems that the story drags on and on without reaching any real conclusions. Too technical - needs more explanation of the tech terms used. Found it boring in places. Hope the next one is better.

I don't usually write reviews but I had to throw in my two cents worth on Kathy Reichs. It seems like so many people that write reviews of her books parrot the phrases "Too Technical" or "Boring". It's the "Technical" stuff that makes her books so interesting. They are anything BUT boring. If technical isn't your thing listen to something else. I find Kathy Reichs very entertaining.

Once again Kathy Reichs hasn't disappointed me. Makes me want to plan a long trip so I'll have time to listed to it all at once. Would recommend it to anyone who has enjoyed her previous books.

Not too light not too difficult to listen while doing house work or traveling and at points sit on the edge of your seat. Good book
