Trapped: The Iron Druid Chronicles, Book 5

This series captured me from the start and I have really enjoyed both the overall story and the performance of the narrator. However, in this book, a trend that started to emerge in the last book becomes very evident - our 'hero' is tainted by evil. The question is if he has always been that way, or if this is something relatively new? He kills without cause, shows little remorse over causing death and destruction to thousands, and has pretty much screwed up the actual universe because of his own petty pride. As much as I liked him to start with, I am starting to hope he gets served up the punishment he deserves. Pretty odd direction for an author to take a reader, but I am still interested in the series.

This was another excellent installment in the continuing saga of the Iron Druid. If you liked the previous books, you will love this one as well. If you have not listened to the other books, I recommend you start there.

If you are like me and are always looking for other books you may like, you might wan to try Brandon' Sanderson's "The Stormlight Archives: The Way of Kings," "The Scar," by Sergey and Marina Dyechenko, "The son of Neptune" by Rick Riordan, the most recent installment in the Kris Longknife series by Mike Shepard - "Furious" - although I think this installment in the series did not really advance the story as much as I would have liked, it still moves the story along some. Please find out what other reviewers have to say before deciding if to read any of the above series. I enjoyed them all, but some more than others. If there is a book you enjoyed, please share it. Let me say it, when i read the first book i didn't think the series was that good... but honestly i wasn't focused at that time.... but when i got the 2nd book, i bought 3rd, 4th, 4.5th and this one all at once. ...

I love a book when i laugh during it, and this series an this book made me laugh a lot.

Narration is as good as always, and the ending in this books is so good... can't wait to read bok 6

There is so many good characters, but my favorite is Oberon... That dog is damn funny

But in this book what i didn't like is the last few chapters... it felt like it went so fast... someone comes says you must do this, and then he goes and do it .... which it should have been harder in my opinion than how easy it sounded like.... i feel like the previous books were better, but i feel like this book being a preparation for a great 6th book.

For those of you have have read the previous IDC-books, this is more of the same. And by that I mean, more of the same awesomeness. Oberon is very present in this book and that adds to the story in a very sausage and beef way.

For those who haven't read the previous IDC-books, aww... I wish I had five unread IDC books, I would feel like the richest man on earth. Buy and listen to:
Hounded, Hexed, Hammered and Tricked first and enjoy!

IDC... great entertainment. And, another book that's hard to put down. SnugglePumkin rocks. He almost, makes you want to run out and get an Irish Wolfhound of your own, then you remember that their minemum weight is 150 lbs. That's alot of puppy to snuggle with. And agian I'm counting the days to the next release of the series. Hearne has baited the IDC with the news he plans to release 3 more books in the series. Thank you Mr. Hearne. That's a positive note for the new year.

I started the Iron Druid Chronicles some time ago and liked the books, but it was the narrator that I really liked. And now someone's gone and had him reading Shakespeare or something for the last six months... what happened? He used to sound like a guy, telling me his story (which was a big part of the attraction), and now he sounds like a Narrator, With Extra N, all deep, abnormal voice and over-pronunciation like I'm listening to Theatre.

Otherwise, the book was pretty good... it continues the saga into the beginnings of Ragnarok. I especially enjoyed the part where Granuaile is able to shift and Oberon is laughing at her. *I* was laughing so hard I nearly wet myself, and had to excuse myself from the office to outside.

I just wish the ending was a little more climactic... maybe it's because I'm listening, not reading, but the endings always seem so rushed. Overall, it was pretty good, though I liked some of the previous books better.

This is a great book. The story picks up several years after the last one, at the end of Granuaile's apprenticeship. It ends with a great cliffhanger after lots of shenanigans from various supernatural beings. The performance is excellent, especially the dog. I recommend it highly!

This book was a bit slower than usual and not as interesting however it was still great. I'm loving this series

Luke Daniels does a great job, and no one else could do the voice of all the male characters better than Luke. My only problem with listening to a book that has a male narrator is that men should not even try to be the voice of a female character. It sounds awful.

I worried when book 4 ran out of steam at the end and book 5 is all war and gore and none of the enchanting character insights and interactions. The author is bored or tired, but the narrator is still in great form. It ties up loose ends if you need that but I wish I hadn't wasted my time with it
