"Terrible narration ruined it for me"

The premise was an interesting one, but the narration was so poor I gave up on the book. The narrator wasn't bad when voicing the main character, but at other times was so stilted she sounded robotic.

    "Narrator Kills Story"
What did you love best about Full Blooded?

    Good story.

What other book might you compare Full Blooded to and why?

    Silver Borne

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Casey Holloway?

    Lorelei King

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    ??

    Any additional comments?

Narrator kills this story. Sounds like she was reading the story for the first time. The halting naration is really bad.

"I want more!!!! Audible please record 2nd book:-)"

I am going to make this short. Loved the story, love the concept, but the performance not so much. The narrator is good but the her voice sound too young to me. Half the time I felt I was listen to a teen book. But the author made up for it. I really enjoy the story. It was different then your usual Werewolf books. It's not all about the romance their is an actual plot. But don't get me wrong their is some romance.

There is some yummy men, there is a strong female, father-daughter, sister-brother, and some fight scenes.

So if you don't want to get into a long series, this is not a book for you, if you can't get into an book if the narrator does not fit your imagination then look else where. But if you like have lore retold in a different way then check this out.

Hope you agree and enjoy good listens:-)

"A rough start, but better towards the middle."

When I first started listening to this book I didn't think I was going to be able to finish it and even considered returning it. I think the narration really hurts the story. The narrator has a nice voice, but she sounds like a teenager rather than a tough mid-20s ex-cop. The narrator also puts awkward pauses in the middle of sentences CONSTANTLY. It really started to drive me crazy. On the plus side, she did a decent job of using different voices and accents for the other characters.

The story itself was only okay for the first half, but by the middle of the book I was pretty into the story. I will most likely get the next book in the series, but in hard copy if they use the same narrator.

I have been happily married for 17 years, I have 3 children (12, 14, & 16), and 2 dogs. I am currently working on a 2nd degree. Life is chaotic and stressful, but I wouldn't change it. I am blessed and enjoying my life.

    "I liked the story"

I like the story enough to purchase the 2nd book even though it wasn't on the audible site. The only reason I didn't give it more than 3 stars on the Performance is because the narrator was very stilted and she read the entire book at the same volume. The book would have read better if she had lowered her tone or varied it some. If she is a new reader or inexperienced, then she will get better. I liked the accents, but the best way to describe how she sounds is that she is very stilted as if she wasn't using contractions, like this was a second language. But this is still an enjoyable book.

"Good beginning to a new series!"

This one has great characters, and a fun premise, but the author's skill is almost eclipsed by the reader's hyper-pronunciation of each word. It seems she substitutes precise enunciation for emotion or acting ability.

The story itself is a new werewolf saga with an interesting heroine, a quest for a handsome hero, amusing and talented sidekicks, and an ancient prophesy. What else could you want?

"Barely got over bad narration to enjoy the story."
Where does Full Blooded rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I would say it's middle of the road.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Full Blooded?

I wouldn't say there are any epic moments. When Jessica and Rourke realize they are mates it was definitely an aww moment. I guess when Jessica fought the imp, it was the first time she realized her power.

What didn’t you like about Casey Holloway’s performance?

I have heard Casey on other books, BUT they were all teen related ones and I was able to deal with the stilted too slow narration. Since Jessica is supposed to be 26 it was very hard to enjoy the story read by a narrator that sounds about 15. Also her accent and voice for Rourke is very off-putting.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It was definitely something I could have listened to in one sitting if I had the time. Have to say again though, the book could have been read a lot quicker if they had used a different narrator.

    Any additional comments?

It was a decent start to a series. There was a lack of depth to Jessica's transformation though, as if suddenly it's all cool that she can turn furry and there's no learning curve involved. And the wolf seems to really accept human logic as if she is not the Id most werewolves stories use the animal as. So far everything seems a tad bit too easy for Jessica. I would like to see some internal challenges in the future, instead of the external ones.

    "Not a bad story but..."
What did you love best about Full Blooded?

I liked the story idea. I even got into the characters and story line. But the narrator almost ruined it for me. She did a number of voices which weren't terrible but it's the way in which she read. It was as if she tried to enunciate each word....so much so it sounded stiff and mechanical. It really detracted from the whole experience. It was so bad I had this huge desire multiple times to just give up on the book because I couldn't stand this woman's mechanical way of reading. I'd love to see where this series goes next, but if they keep the same narrator I might have to rethink it awhile.

    "Story was/could have been interesting....but"
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I'd like to for the story, it had promise...but probably not. Truly barely made it thru the whole thing myself because of the poor and irritating narration. Couple of times was very close to just quitting listening, but hate to get into a story just to quit it.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Was so relieved to reach the end of the annoying narration, that I really didn't pay a whole lot of attention to ending, except for the "not-quite finished, please read the next book" type of ending.

Would you be willing to try another one of Casey Holloway’s performances?

NO. Until this narrator either grows up into her voice, and improves the robotic stilted quality, improving tremendously or the writer uses another narrator, I will not buy any more of this series, nor any other book where she is listed as narrator. Sorry, but much MUCH more practice is needed before going live again.

Do you think Full Blooded needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Yes, it didn't end with any kind of finality. However, I will not buy a follow-up book if the author keeps this narrator.

    Any additional comments?

    very disappointed all told.
