First of all, let me say, Eric Jerome Dickey is a wonderful writer.   I always enjoy reading his books. His characters are always multi-layered and interesting people.  They are very well developed, very intriguing and always entertaining. You never end up where you think you might. And even if you do, you can't predict how you will get there because EJD will always throw you off.  I love it!  I wish he would bring out a book more often than what he does. His  writing truly entertains me and takes me to another place, right in the middle of his story.  
The one thing I really like about EJD's books is, you always can come away with a strong moral lesson and the journey to that moral lesson is simply extraordinary.

This story seemed like it could've been an Easy Rowlins story, maybe one of his friends. I love Eric and I appreciate him trying to do something different, I just didn't enjoy this. I was glad they got back together, and I liked that he had his wife's back. It left me feeling that they'd never trust each other again. Give me more Gideon, please! Love you, Ms. G

I just wanted to hurry up and finish this book, I felt like I wasted my credit. This book is not what I expected from this author. I just didnt too much care for it. Not much else to say.

How weak and unplausable the characters and plot was.

Based the story in a more realistic plot. Not make us want to sympathise with characters that are richer and more beautiful than his readers. Not make us want to feel anything for a murderer, a narcicist, a (un-fleshed out) rich antagonist. make a stronger case for bring "driver and Panter" into the story.

He gave each character personality even though the characters, as written, had no depth.

It was the cutting that destroyed the novel. There was not enough back story and motivation to drive each character to the extreme behavior they exibited.

After reading the Gidion series I was waiting and dying for book 5, Not any more if he is just going to phone it in.

Yes, If you like fast pace stories, quick wit and intelligent story lines, you will love this new novel from Eric Jerome Dickey! Another hit.

The narrator is wonderful. He has a skill for languages, the characters come to life.

It made me not want to stop listening, I finished it in two straight days!

Can not wait for EJD's next book.

The narrator is awesome. Very good diction and command of language. Great with accents. A good storyteller.But really? Some corny writer kills a known family of thugs? So unrealistic that it's actually funny that the writer thought readers wold be bowled over by it.

Except for the references to cell phones, email, twitter etc., this book sounds like it was written in the 1950's, with all the focus on men, sex and violence and their demeaning treatment of women. Reminds me of a time when women were objectified by hair color - "the blonde", "the brunette" etc. like products in a convenience store.

I couldn't gat past about 15 minutes of this. I see why it's on sale (unfortunately, three days after my purchase) but I was too early to get the sale price. It's still not worth a credit, nor the sale price either.

I haven't read Eric Jerome Dickey in a while, but I loved his early books... Couldn't wait for them to come out! So when I saw one with such an interesting title, I decided to try it.

This book is completely different from any of his work that I have read... Despite the departure from "African American themed" books, that I kind of expected, there is a "darkness" in this particular book that is unfamiliar and it also reads like one of the old detective novels where the gritty detective who has seen everything is not necessarily a likeable hero, but happens to be in the middle of all of the action anyway.

If you are looking for a lot of sex and a lot of action, it is here... But there isn't necessarily a lot of storyline and no likeable characters, although there are new characters constantly introduced, none of them other than the main character is developed enough that you really understand them at all. And even when you think you understand the main character and his motives, he does things that make no sense.

I would have developed the characters more and let them have just ONE personality.

The narration was very good.

No, a follow-up book would just be more "jumbled passion" that really leads nowhere.

The listen was not a waste of time but not exciting. Rather slow and boring.

This did not compare, but I was also listening to the Gideon series.
