During the rule of her murderous Dark Fae uncle, Thistle "Tricks" Periwinkle found sanctuary among the Wyr in New York. Her ethereal beauty and sparkling personality won the hearts of the public, but after her uncle's death, there are those who don't want to see her ascend to the throne.
Able to wield thunder and lightning, Wyr sentinel Tiago Black Eagle has ruled the skies for centuries. His massive build and thunderous power make him one of the Wyr's best weapons. And he's sent to protect Tricks when she's almost assassinated in Chicago. Soon, both Tiago and Tricks will fall prey to the stormy hunger that engulfs them - a passion that will shake the very foundation of all the worlds.

"Great Story!!"
This audiobook was so great! This is the second book in Thea Harrison's Elder Races Series and the story was great! I'm a reader who usually reads the book first and then listens to the audiobooks of the series I truly LOVE! I decide this time to use my monthly credit on a book I had not read yet!
I think my favorite part of was how perfect the voice of Niniane was portrayed. The narrator voiced her exactly how I pictured her speaking in my head! The other characters were very well done also!
Overall, a great book worth listening too! AWESOME JOB Ms. Eastlake!! A GREAT JOB goest to Thea Harrison as well....keep them coming!!
"The Dude Has Lightening Bolts in His Eyes!"
This is the second book in the Elder Races series, but it could have been listened to without hearing the first book, Dragon Bound. There are references to things that happened in the first book but not enough so that you would have been lost if you didn’t read it.
This story takes up where the first left off and is the love story of Tricks (cute little dark Fae princess) and Tiago (Big ole Thunderbird). There are many circumstances that keep Tricks and Tiago apart including themselves. Although they both feel an attraction to each other, they are hesitant to take the big step that will mate them for life.
There are also many Dark Fae that don’t want Tricks to ascend to the throne so every once in a while there will be an assassination attempt on her. Between the assassination attempts and the friends that are trying to keep them apart, the world just seems against the possibility of Tricks and Tiago ever being together.
This story had a slow build up to the ultimate conclusion. There was a point where I was just thinking ‘get on with it and mate already will ya?’ but that is just my impatient self. Overall it is a good second book and I believe those that enjoyed the first book, Dragon Bound, will also enjoy this story.
The Narration Review
This audiobook was narrated by Sophie Eastlake who was also the narrator for the first book. She has a great story telling voice that is very easy to listen to. Sophie sounds youngish, so I always blush for her when she has to say sexually explicit things. LoL
I love books! Audiobooks take stories to the next level. I'm obsessed with Audible and will try to rate all of my books. Happy Listening! ;)
"Lots of suspense... some hot romance"
This is book 2 in the Elder Races series. You don't really need to read them in order since there are barely any references from the previous book. This is the story about Thiago and Tricks. She inherited the Dark Fey throne and someone is out to impede her from becoming the Queen. That's why Thiago goes after her to defend her. I liked this book but it felt kind of long. The romance takes quite a long time to develop and I found myself saying: "do it already darn it!". This story has more suspense than romance and I liked the fact that it was not predictable. I never predicted who the bad guy is. Overall I liked this book and will most likely get the third one in the series but it is not as hot and romantic as the first book. The narrator does a nice job with the different characters although Minion's voice (Tricks) is a little annoying.
"not sure"
I was disappointed, the humor was not there, the story line was good, but i was lookong forward to more stories based on pia, dragos and new bundle of joy known as peanut.
"Don't skip this one!"
Originally I skipped this book based on reviews, but I disagree with the poor ratings. I tried to go to book 3 but felt the gap too much so went back and got this one. It was a good story and definitely set up book 3.
Why can't real life be like books?
"Fun light read."
I enjoyed this book, but perhaps not quite as much as the book before and after it. Still, it's far and away better than most of the stuff out there so definitely worth the credit.
"thoroughly enjoyable"
I really enjoyed the story and the narrator. The author is really making me want to read more about these characters. I can't wait to read the next book.
"Everytime thunder sounds now....."
I love T-Bird and how Ninian handles him. She understands him completely and knows exactly how to respond. I think Storm's Heart was a little slower paced than the first book, Dragon Bound, but it was worth the wait and I understand how the story will lead to book 3. Good tragedy, mystery and revenge. Ninian and Tiago's banter had me laughing the whole time. And the feather?!?! Hilarious!! It was so easy to picture! Again, Sophie did an oustanding job on animating the characters. Thanks Thea!
I am a mother of two rowdy boys. I listen to audiobooks while house cleaning, on my commute and while working out.
"Loved Dragon Bound but..."
I loved the first book in this series Dragon Bound but this one missed the mark for me. I had to force myself to finish it.
"Annoying Valley Girl Barbie Doll Alert!"
Yes I have one more to go, but this was such a disappointing difference from Dragon Bound.
Not make a 217 year old fairy sound like a whiny immature Barbie Doll, ugh. The banter between a 217 fairy and...an older then time Thunder bird was just ridiculous, I felt like it was a scene out of "Mean Girls". Age is suppose to signify experience, knowledge, grace and wisdom, but instead you get annoying drunk sorority girl that gives it up in a night club....classy.
Disappointment, I really wanted the characters to be more mature for their substantial age.
so far this is my least favorite it the series, Dragon Bound is still the best.
