"Disappointing follow-up"
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?There were some very interesting elements and explorations of life with Elves, but that's about it.
What was most disappointing about Christopher Paolini’s story?At times it was very preachy on ideals but the worst was to have the Deus Ex Machina be trumped by something even greater. Ever heard of escalation? It's where you have to have more weapons/power than the bad guys, and when they get more you need even more again. The ending was cheap in that our protagonist was given these night godly powers by the Dragon spirits themselves, only to be trounced by someone else who had not been "touched by dragons"..
Very disappointed and very suspicious that I'll ever come back and finish this series.
Have you listened to any of Gerrard Doyle’s other performances before? How does this one compare?Gerrards' performance was spectacular and definitely worth the price of admission if the book itself was not.
Was Eldest - Part Two worth the listening time?I don't feel that it was worth it. Even though I praised the first book Eragon, this book is very much a poorer cousin.
Any additional comments?Thanks for my brief stay in Alagaesia Christopher, but I don't think I'll be coming back any time soon.
Kind of like when you have a great holiday somewhere and then go back later and see it's been ruined by developement/tourism/pollution etc etc.1 of 1 people found this review helpful
