Publisher's Summary

Love hurts, and no one knows it better than Georgina Kincaid. If she so much as kisses Seth Mortensen, the shy, sexy, incredibly gifted Seattle writer she's been dating, she'll drain his life force. Georgina is a succubus - a demon who draws her power from other men's pleasure. Admittedly, the shapeshifting and immortality perks are terrific, and yes, Georgina did choose to join the ranks of hell centuries ago. But it seems completely unfair that a she-demon whose purpose is seduction can't get hot and heavy with the one mortal who knows and accepts her for who she is.

It's not just her personal life that's in chaos. Doug, Georgina's co-worker at a local bookstore, has been exhibiting bizarre behaviour, and Georgina suspects that something far more demonic than double espressos is at work. She could use help finding out, but Bastien, an irresistibly charming incubus and her best immortal friend, is preoccupied with corrupting an ultra-conservative talk radio star - and giving Georgina some highly distracting come-hither vibes. Georgina is going to have to work solo on this one - and fast because soon, Doug's life won't be the only one on the line.

    "Loved this book!"

I didn't think I would like this book as much as I did. I love all the vampire and supernatural genres, but I wasn't sure about succubus (or is it succubi?)

Anyway, I'm so glad I did. I loved the characters and the narrator, as well. And I especially loved that not everything turns out perfect and happily ever after.

Lots and lots of sex which sometimes is quite over the top, but who's complaining?

I will definitely listen to the other books in the series.

    "Fun and Entertaining Series"

I enjoy a good many urban paranormal series and I wasn't too sure about this one at first. The protagonist isn't some powerful fighter who resolves problems through violence. She is, well, a 2000 year old demon hooker of sorts feeding off the life force of mortals and corrupting souls for the forces of evil. Georgina is witty and though I hardly feel she behaves like someone with centuries of experience I find the story entertaining. You don't get a book about a Succubus expecting grand drama so perhaps my expectations are lowered a bit but I highly recommend the book. Elisabeth Rodgers is an excellent narrator who brings great expression to the series.

    "A fun listen!"

This was a fun, easy listen. I've enjoyed both books in this series so far. If you are looking for a literary masterpiece, this probably isn't it, but if you are looking for a story that easily keeps your interest and gives you a laugh or two, you've found it. Narrator was great, too!

    "more on the background"

We get to know more about Georgina and the gang of immortals and the background in this story. As in the first book, it goes very fast.

I like the colorful side characters more than the main characters. My vote goes for Carter whom while he doesn't in charcter but in disheveld look makes me think of Castiel in Supernatural. He says all those cryptic things to Georgina, but I believe he has her best interest in heart.

I also found Sebastian her ex-appretince/partner succubus interesting, too. He reveals more about Georgina and her past.

    "Entertaining"

I downloaded this with some trepidation because I saw a few reviews saying it wasn't very good. Is this one of the best books I've ever "read"? No. Let's face it though, if we are contemplating buying a book called "Succubus On Top" with a steamy photo on the cover, we aren't looking for the next War and Peace great novel. Sometimes, ya just want some light entertainment that doesn't suck. For me, this fit the bill. I was entertained, it didn't make me roll my eyes, and the narration is good. I'm enjoying the series and I'm going to get the next.

    "a bit silly"

Although I didn't find the first book in the series entirely compelling, I thought I'd give the 2nd a try. Georgina remains surprisingly graceless for a succubus. She's likable, but for someone who has been alive for at least a thousand years AND is demonically seductive, she is naive and prone to being at a loss for words. It's not a bad series, by any means, but I don't think I'll be trying it out any further.

Definitely a great book - much better than I had expected. I had to buy the second book to see what would happen.

    "Unrealistic Character Development and Plot"

I enjoyed the first book in the series as a refreshing angle on the supernatural genre. However, I was very disappointed with this book and wanted to give fair warning to those who are on the fence that they may want to consider using their credit on a different book.

The story starts with much potential with the introduction of new interesting characters such as Bastien her Incubus best friend. However, the story soon becomes very irritating in many ways:
    - The pace is much slower than the first book

    - Georgina a Succubus who regularly devours men's lives and souls, gets on her high horse about morality and starts trying to interfere in the sex life of a female friend... give me a break!

    - Georgina is regularly out on the town seducing men while her boyfriend Seth steadfastly remains chaste. The one so obvious solution to giving him some relief isn't discovered till the end. This relationship is so unrealistic it is painful to listen to.

    - Bastien the expert Incubus who has no trouble going home with two beautiful women at a time every night has trouble seducing a woman. The reason becomes so painfully obvious early on but somehow doesn't get resolved until... you guessed it, Georgina comes to the rescue.

To put it in a nutshell, Georgina becomes much too unrealistic for a 2000 year old Succubus or even a 26 year old Succubus for that matter, in this book, and the main supporting characters aren't much better. This is a shame because the premise for this book was interesting; it could have been so much better if the author had spent time with more realistic character development and plot.
