Publisher's Summary

Nothing incites Marcus more than the primal hunger roused by his former fiancée, Elizabeth. It’s been years since she jilted him for another man, but that only means there’s a lot to catch up on, a lot to make up for, and that he’s going to enjoy every sweet moment.… The same drive and passion that sent her into another man’s arms is what brings Elizabeth back to Marcus. Her attraction to him is the one thing she fears, but she’s run out of options. Resisting is impossible. But does she have the courage to surrender everything?

"FIVE STARS - THREE WORDS PERFECT DELICIOUS HOT"

This is book 1 of SD's Regency series and I only hope Audible will continue to give us more from this brilliant and very talented author as this had everything a historical romance lover looks for in a listen.

A passion filled, well described and interesting storyline with a few plot twists, strong and likeable characters, a handsome tormented dominant Rake (don't we just love 'em) and the love scenes are both sensual and sweet. All this performed by the gifted Justine Eyre who breathes life into the characters and makes it a very pleasureable listen.

For the 'got to get it historically correct' listeners I am sure that in the Regency era there weren't such four letter words used as is in this book (which wasn't even an issue for me) but with a shrug and a "hey so what" surely overlooking them should be easy and ..... this was SD's first ever Manuscript !!

Worth a credit? Absolutely YES but at $9.79 (can't believe the price) I just bought it and saved my credit for a more expensive but probably not more deserving or enjoyable book - but be warned - if you don't like a 'hot and heavy' listen then look elsewhere.

"Once Again, I'm glad I didn't listen to reviews!"

I was a bit worried about getting this book after reading a few of the reviews, but I am VERY glad I didn't listen!

While a few people go on and on about a supposed "rape" scene, I didn't see it that way. It is very BDSM in that sense, but I was in no way offended by the supposed scene and found it no way distracting from the story. Quite the opposite really. It goes from BDSM into a love story.

If you are open minded and looking for a good listen, this is a good one. I know I really enjoyed it!

    "narrator kills it...dead"
    Any additional comments?

I am a listening addict, I have purchased 30 books so far this year and it's march. I love Sylvia Day's books and recommend them all the time. I read the reviews prior to my purchase and noticed that most of them say "can't get past the narrator." I have listened to and liked other narrations done by Justine, but this one just started grating on my nerves prior to the half way point. there is just something about her high class british attempt that makes me tune her out. The story played on for a few more chapters and then i realized that i had no idea what was going on. i plan on getting a refund.

    "It Needed the Ending"

First of all, I am not in love with Justine Eyre as a narrator. She makes all the male characters sound like sleepy lizards.

That said, the story is interesting because of the bit of mystery carrying it. The romance is a little weird, bordering on sadomasochism and a bit of stalking.

    The ending saves the book.

    "Would Not recommend"

Very, very boring in the beginning, picks up a little. I guess I am just tired of 2 people finding reasons NOT to be together, when you know they will end up together. Then playing the same games. "I did not want to tell you this, I did not want to ruin your day" God, I hate this. Was glad when I was done with this book.

    "Loved it!"

I actually loved this book! It's my first Sylvia Day -- I wanted to avoid the whole "50 Shades" cliche and similar writers. But this was actually really good! I'm a huge fan of Justine Eyre, and think that she was magnificent as always. For listeners who don't typically purchase historical fiction based in England and who are used to more modern US-based characters, I could see how her voice would be a distraction. But I've listened to many titles that she's narrated, and she's one of the best out there. I chose this book because Justine was narrating. The performance and story did not disappoint!

    "Historical Romance"

Enjoyed this just so - so. Obviously I'm not a fan of historical romance. Just too dated for my taste. But the love story in it is pretty hot...

If you could sum up Ask for It in three words, what would they be?

    Old Old school

What did you like best about this story?

The story was good, I liked the plot, and the characters.

What does Justine Eyre bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The accents were good and I generally don't like books with accents bec/ they tend to be bad. This narrator did a really good job w/ male and female voices.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Marcus confesses his love for Elizabeth. i thought FINALLY!!!!

    Any additional comments?

    Great narration!!!

"Narration Much to Dramatic For My Taste"

I think I would have liked this audio better if Justine Eyre would not have overdramatized the story with an over-the-top vibrato. I expected to hear: "John" "Marsha" "No, John" "No Marsha!" The over dramatization just turned me off. Because of this, it was very difficult for me to get through this audio. I think I could give a better evaluation if I had read the story whether than listen to it.
