On leave for Thanksgiving, the last thing marine lieutenant Talia Barnett expects to find is Liam Brodie waiting for her at the airport. He's had a starring role in her fantasies for the past two years, and although she'd love to make them a reality, she has a dark secret that prevents her from taking things further.
A former marine, Liam's specialty is planning tactical operations, and that's just what he plans to do to win Talia. The woman has kept him at arm's length for too long, and this time he's finally going to claim her - body and heart.
What begins as comfort quickly turns hot. When Liam shows Talia a hint of the dominant nature inside him, the submissive part of her flares to life. Though she desires him, she's going back on deployment and doesn't want to dump all her drama on him. Will he find a way to break through the protective walls around her heart and convince her they have a future that goes far beyond the bedroom?

I tend to get into grooves where everything I read is historical romance, mystery, light romantic comedy, thrillers, or whatever. I used to read (in print) 2 or 3 books at the same time, switching one to the other, depending on mood. But there are medications for that now, LOL.
"Lots of angst"
I wasn't particularly fond of the lead female character, nor all her angst. I did like the male character and his being supportive, but the girl just didn't seem to be able to appreciate it. You know, there still could have been a plot without all the angst.
I am a 49 year old, mother of 2, grandmother of 4 who has just decided to peel back my good girl, and let me bad girl out to play. I've been married for 26 years. It time to explore my inner bad girl. I just hope my husband can handle it.
"I have found a new author to read"
It ranks up at the top
The way that he moved in and took care of her. Sometime you just need someone to take over and move you out of the way.
No
The bathroom scene. I got goose bumps.
I need more books written by Callie Croix, and narrated by Natasha Vincent.
I used to be an avid reader of Romance novels. I usually preferred the Harlequin & Silhouette series''. I would read several books a day over the summer and several a week during school months. I took a long break as an adult but have gotten back to it this year and am very much enjoying my Audible experience. So far I still really like general Romance but have found a real unexpected joy in Supernatural & Paranormal Romances.
"Not a bad read, not erotica"
I would call this more romance novel than erotica. It was good as that though, I don't think I'd have liked it better if it was less romance-y though. I'd also have like to have seen more of the dom/sub than was there. It was just hinted at, not prevalent as other books related to this one have been.
To relax I listen to my books. It's like yoga but better, you don't have to bend your body!!
"Not the best"
I have and it was ok but don't waste credits or money.
Don't know.
Don't have a clue. Just know I didn't like the book.
Tell us about yourself!
"E-not-ic!"
The story was okay and it held my interest. I'm all for a hot steamy love scene but not this kind. Back door knocking just doesn't do it for me. Sorry!
"Good read but not what I wold call erotica"
This was a good short story. I love a dominant man, and this lead was very dominant. I would recommend it for any one who is not looking for instense erotic scenes but a good love story.
