If you've already reached this book, then you have been reading the Jack Daniels book series for a while and finally, eventually, reached the end. If so, then just do it, buy the book. You want to know what happens, where it ends and who survives. This is a brutal thriller that finalizes all the characters and their stories.

If you're new to the series you don't want to start at the end, I don't think. The book assumes knowledge of the rest of series. Also, this book continues where Shaken leaves off. It's rough to read, very graphic and violent. But this series needs to end with a villain worthy of Jack and the rest of the killers she's come up against.

If you've made it here, then buy it, it's a good (but not spectacular) end to a very fun series. If you're new to the series, it starts with Whiskey Sour and is a very good collection of books. I loved them. Get involved and have fun!

NO - but it has turned me off from this author. After each book by him, I think "just a little more over the top"

too many to count - it would have had to be a complete rewrite IMO... and this is a genre that I read all the time.

Nothing straight forward about this book except the Torture, Torture, and more Torture mixed in with hospital visits for the 8.5 month pregnant Jack. This is more than over the top in believability seeing the pregnant woman described in the book running the gauntlet in this 'ghost' town. I liked the Jack Daniels books when I started them, but find I'm getting extremely tired of the serial killers that seem to try to oneup the serial killer from the previous book. Seems to me that each book is a little gorier than the last and each a little less enjoyable as well. This is not a series that I would recommend to any of my friends. Even with the retirement of Jack, I can't even say I'll read the author again because I'm afraid I'll run into the same type of writing - shock tactics designed to horrify instead of writing with a good story line.

This is a one time listen.

Thrilling fasinating intense

This isn't a fair question as I have many favs and it would spoil it for a new reader. Jack is amazing and Luther is horrifyingly energetic. Great pairing of characters!

Sad to see the JD series at it's end, but what an end it was! I like the dual narrators and I'll miss this series.

Similar to the previous in the series, however less of a comedic element. Perhaps that's due to the second author. Still good. With no disrespect to Mr. Gigante, when one has listened to an entire series with a particular narrator (i.e., Dick Hill) it's REALLY hard to adjust to a new one. Dick had distinct voices for all the characters (plus, Dick's impeccable comic timing, delivery, and accents), so it was extremely difficult to adjust to the new voices. If this was the first book and Gigante was the narrator, I'd be perfectly happy with him. But, otherwise, it's like having your favorite TV program start the next season with all new actors playing the parts of the characters you are used to. Aaaargh! Note to audio publishers: Pony up the cash - or whatever your issue was - and get Dick Hill back!

A huge disappointment - don't waste your time. I couldn't even finish listening to it.

This book will keep you entertained. One part I questioned though. It was as if the author is racist. Like they refer to Blacks as N-words, and whites who speak like Blacks as w--gers? That made me question the author's intent.
But the performance of 2 narrators was a good idea. Good book. Likely racist author.

The reading was good; phil Gigante was excellent (as usual), Angela Dawe pretty good. I think the authors were going with 'strong & independent' for the heroine, Jack Daniels, but to me she came off more in the 'so stubborn she's stupid' category. She repeatedly goes charging blindly into dangerous situations, forcing her friends to follow her, & usually other people end up getting hurt or killed. She's 8 1/2 months pregnant & has eclampsia, which is life-threatening for her & fetus, but she refuses to go to the hospital or have labor induced slightly early..she refuses the early delivery because she wants to put off 'being a mother' ?!? Idiotic! It's not like she can just put it on hold! I couldn't even figure out why the authors gave her the eclampsia; it's a plot device that does nothing but prove how reckless & stupid Jack is. Other characters are quite thin, except maybe Harry McGlade (sp?) who I think is supposed to be the cranky guy full of crude jokes & puns who really, underneath it all, is lovable & has a heart of gold. I found him totally unlovable & so obnoxious I ended up rooting for the bad guys to kill him.I'm fairly sure the authors are going for an edgy, dry 'n' darkly witty thriller --and there were some quite funny moments-- but the product doesn't come near to fulfilling that intent.

Listened to Gigante do several things, most notably his outstanding renderings of Joe Lansdale's Hap & Leonard series; this one falls in the dust compared to those, which have excellent readings and excellent stories & characterizations.
