"Usual Robyn Carr story"
Liked the book, it is the usual easy listening, takes you to another place that we are use to. I was thrilled she finally stopped using "delicious" in every romance scene, I don't think she used it once, which was good for me because I couldn't stand it. I was also thrilled to get no lectures on safe sex, it was becoming most annoying. No huge surprises in the book, the usual easy listening of Virgin River and Therese Plummer does these books well.
"You gotta love Virgin River"
The narrator was, as always, wonderful. The story was just what you would think from Robyn Carr and this series. A great escape to a place that would be wonderful to live. Anxious for the next title, wonder if it will be Patrick Riordan's story, maybe with someone's sister? Oh how I love that town and the wonderful sensitive men and wonderful confident women.
I love books! Audiobooks take stories to the next level. I'm obsessed with Audible and will try to rate all of my books. Happy Listening! ;)
"Good story, good narration..."
The Virgin River series is just so good. Every story has romance, suspense and a beautiful Happily Ever After. The main couple Connor and Leslie were just perfect for each other and they are both good people so I was definitely rooting for them. And then again this series has very likable recurrent characters specially Jack and Preacher. I've fallen in love with the whole town on Virgin River and I'm sad to know that it will soon come to an end.
Narration: it's Therese Plummer. By now the name speaks for itself. She is just one of the best narrators. There's no way she can possibly get less than four stars for her narration. She has an uncanny ability to portray each character so distinctively. This story has several men, women and even children as characters and you could differentiate them all.
I definitely recommend the Virgin River series and ANY book narrated by Therese Plummer. Very credit worthy.
Game nut
"Great series!!"
I love this series! I'm patiently waiting for the next one. You'll love this series, above all, you'll truly enjoy the narration of Therese Plummer, one of my favorite narrators! Enjoy!
"I enjoy all of Robyn Carr books."
I always read her books to relax and excape. I never want to put them down.
Tell us about yourself!
"Another Virgin Rivers Winner!!"
I recommend the Virgin River series to all my friends! There is enough descriptions of characters in each book so they can be read our of sequence, however, I recommend my friends start from the beginning and then I watch as they become hooked on this town like I am. Therese Plummer does an excellent job of narrating the characters. Connie and Leslie's story fit right in with what I have come to expect in Virgin Rivers.
I liked how Leslie overcame the hurt she suffered from a stupid ex-husband and realize that it was him - not her!
Gosh! I can't say - she does such a good job with each character until I can identify who the character is even though I might not have heard her identify the person. She is outstanding! I don't know if someone else could do it as well as she can.
It had to be Leslie. I loved her being able to stand up to her ex when he came to talk to her about them "being friends" and she running him away with the fire extinguisher.
Just a great book! I have all the books on my IPOD. I have listened to the entire series at least three times. I drove across country and started with Virgin Rivers and was able to go through 6 of the books while traveling. Only regret is that they are not available as soon as they are published. I have already read the book on my Nook before they are recorded.
"Another home run for me!!"
I can't compare the two, my imagination will always do a better job when reading a book than listening to one!! The books always read more intense. But Terese Plummer is an excellent narrator and audiobooks get me thru my daily commute, in a positive frame of mind to tackle my work day!
Leslie, she finally saw through the lousy ex-husband, something I can personally relate too!!
emotion and empathy for the characters.....
Oh I got teary during a couple of the passages....
Hurry up and write more Ms Carr.......I have read all you have to offer, i will soon be going through withdrawal!!
Thank for all the hours of "take me away enjoyment!!
"Another good Virgin Falls story"
Enjoyed continuing the story of the people of Virgin Falls. I also enjoy how the lives of the small town people are so different from a true small community. In Virgin Falls they are so open and accepting of new people. Coming from a small town I know this is not the norm. But this is what most want to believe a small community is like.
Connor was able to take the blows that came with his honesty after witnessing a murder. Was glad that he had few consequences to either he or his sister and nephews. A good character.
The voice of Therese Plummer does not make a good male voice. Her male voices sound as if the men are not of average intellect and wimpy. I also detect a slight 'Valley Girl' at the end of a sentence. Do not understand why she was given the job of reading the Virgin Falls books. So basically get a new reader for the performance.
No, I had to take breaks due to the reader, Therese Plummer.
Robyn Carr is a very good story teller. Her characters are pretty true to life and follow their character development.
"Love scenes too intense!"
As far as romance novels go, the Virgin River is a good series. However, I don't think that I can enjoy too many more of the stories because of the formula - girl meets boy etc.
I find the loves scenes are unecessarily too graphic - somewhat pornographic.
I like the setting for the Virgin River stories, and the friendly/family atmosphere.
Therese Plummer is a great narrator.
"Loved it -- as usual"
This is one of my favorite authors. She's funny, witty, and her romance is real without being voyeuristic. Her characters are interesting and compelling. Another wonderful read!
