Publisher's Summary

As the world enters a new century, three teenagers forge a future for themselves on the wild Texas grasslands: Gideon Fry, torn between going his way and following his father's footsteps; Johnny McCloud, whose restless spirit finds its solace traversing an open range; and Molly Taylor, the woman they both love. Rugged, bold and volatile, the three of them come of age in this tender and intimate novel of the heart.

    "Excellent, simple story"

I too was looking for a comfortable book and this hit the spot. McMurtry's characters are so well developed, I felt bereft when the book ended - as if I had known them for years. The story is very simple but not without its own wisdom. Loved it.

    "Beautiful and sincere novel"

I was looking for a good work of fiction to listen to and feel refreshed, and Leaving Cheyenne was perfect. The narration is spot on, and the story is introspective, charming, and honest. This is one of those novels that you hate to hear end, and I found it hard to stop listening.

I really liked this book. It really reminded me of my father and made me not want to waste any time on people who don't really care about you.

    "A bit disapointing"

I have always enjoyed McMurtry's books but was disappointed in this one. I may have wanted more.
