"Roberts is indeed a word artist, painting her story and characters with vitality and verve." (Los Angeles Daily News)
"When Roberts puts her expert fingers on the pulse of romance, legions of fans feel the heartbeat." (Publishers Weekly)
"You can't bottle wish fulfillment, but Nora Roberts certainly knows how to put it on the page." (The New York Times)
I honestly write these reviews in a spirit of sharing and helpfulness. I have no idea why I always end up sounding so snotty...
"No means yes?"
Astonishingly, this was my first Nora Roberts book and I must say she does have very nice prose and a fine sense of setting. But hopefully, her other books have better characters because the love interest in this novel was disturbing to me. The male 'hero' holds his woman down - literally and becomes enraged when she stops kissing and asks for time to think. Our heroine says she's in love but you really have to wonder why. Knowing what I know - I don't think I could dance at their wedding. I hear it's an early work though so perhaps it's just dated - if that's the case, thank God for progress!
"formula romance"
You can definitely tell that this book is one of her earlier books. It is a true romance and if you are looking for the typical guy meets girl, loses girl, wins girl back and marries girl then this is the book for you!
"Boring storyline"
The main character was just too unbelievable.
She was OK, just didn't have a good story to work with.
No
"Big fan of Ms Roberts, not so of this book."
Story did not hold my attention, did not finish book
Yes
I did not care in any way for this book.
"Temptation"
The tidle says a lot. I enjoyed the book and and relaxed while the naration with music carried on. The characters were interesting.
"Good Quiet-time Story"
Very classic romance. Lifts the spirits with the finding of love. perfect for a rainy afternoon.
"another favorite of Nora Roberts"
I am glad that I purchased this one. There were times in the storyline that were boring but all in all the total story was a good one and believable.
"Mild Temptation"
Don't know have not read printed version
predictable
Give the male characters a more masculine voice. Especially Chaz, make him more masculine and sensual.
If the stalls could talk
I have read the Witness and I thought that was fantastic. This was ok, not great as the witness. I still am looking forward to reading other works by Nora Roberts and could also be the narrator. This book was ok not great.
"Early Nora"
I have been reading Nora Roberts since her debut with Irish Throughobred. Her books are always well written, however, her plot lines and characters have evolved with her years in writing. This is a simple story, chronicling the strength of the heroine. The love interest is perhaps, typical of stereotype macho male of the 1980s.
The narrator creates each of the different characters very believably. The story flowed well in her voice. For a simple love story, this is worth a listen.
"Don't be Tempted..."
Believeable characters and a male hero who understands no means no.
Just found this whole premise too formulaic.
Sounds too young
