Publisher's Summary

Claudia and Ben are the perfect couple. Ever since their first date, when they both admitted they had no desire for children, their courtship and marriage seemed destined. Their relationship is about freedom, possibility, and exploration. About being together because they want to be together. Not because children are caging them with 18 years of obligation. But then Ben changes his mind: He does want children, after all.

This is the story about what happens to the perfect couple when they have to face the toughest decision either of them has ever had to make. What is the most important thing in life: children or love? Emily Giffin is a sensation, a master at exploring impossible dilemmas with humor, sensitivity, and depth. Baby Proof will satisfy the hundreds of thousands of fans who have already read her books, and create legions more.

What the Critics Say

"By avoiding easy answers, Giffin once again proves she's one of the best chick-lit writers in this thoughtful, layered, and wholly original story of a woman facing a major choice in her life." (Booklist)

"substantial though still on the bright side!"

Difficult topic but nothing too challenging, entertaining story. The narrator did a good job. Recommendable.

    "Waste of time and money"

I had concerns about listening to this book in Miranda Hobbs' voice, and although it was less annoying than I expected it to be, it was annoying nonetheless. I thought the storyline was too thin -- a short story stretched out into a book -- and got old really fast. Despite the fluff in the middle of the book, the ending was left up in the air. All in all, this book was a waste of time and money.

    "Just Okay"

Having been the 3rd book of Emily Giffin's that I have purchased, I was disappointed...The really liked her first book, "Something Borrowed" but this I found didn't hold my interest.
Maybe it would for you if you were going throught the internal battle of whether you wanted to have kids or not.
It really didn't hold my interest. Although Cynthia Nixon is a GREAT narrator.

    "Loved This!"

Such a good story for women of this age. I think women of all backgrounds can take something from this book. Whether you are a women in question of having a baby, an individual with issues in your relationship, or a woman who doesn't understand other women who don't want children, or if you are just in the mood for a good story to listen to. In the end its a tale of true love conquering all, and ultimately a strong case for compromise. I learned something for my own life, a story quite parallel to this one. The performance was great too, I love the way Cynthia Nixon brought the story to life.

    "Pretty good. Love this author."

I really like the way this author explores the intricacies and ambiguities of relationships. It was fun that characters from her other books had minor roles. Cynthia Nixon does a good job.
