Publisher's Summary

It's the 12th book of the Women's Murder Club series, and it's finally time! Detective Lindsay Boxer is in labor - while two killers are on the loose.

Lindsay Boxer's beautiful baby is born! But after only a week at home with her new daughter, Lindsay is forced to return to work to face two of the biggest cases of her career.

A rising star football player for the San Francisco 49ers is the prime suspect in a grisly murder. At the same time, Lindsay is confronted with the strangest story she's ever heard: An eccentric English professor has been having vivid nightmares about a violent murder and he's convinced is real. Lindsay doesn't believe him, but then a shooting is called in - and it fits the professor's description to the last detail.

Lindsay doesn't have much time to stop a terrifying future from unfolding. But all the crimes in the world seem like nothing when Lindsay is suddenly faced with the possibility of the most devastating loss of her life.

"Wow - this is bad! Even for the WMC Series!!!"
What could James Patterson and Maxine Paetro have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

The story could have been tightened up. There were too may different stories - the missing body, the sick baby (that wasn't really sick), the serial killer, AND a trial of another killer. Dear Lord! With that many story lines, the novel should have been 10 times longer than it was.

Would you be willing to try another one of January LaVoy’s performances?

No - she was way too dramatic. Though the storyline didn't help her any, the voices she used were often distracting and comical.

What character would you cut from 12th of Never?

Not a character, but a storyline. The "missing body" storyline was completely pointless.

    Any additional comments?

Just stay away, even if you are a Women's Murder Club fan. This book was terrible!!!

    "Narrator is Awesome, Story Sucks"
Is there anything you would change about this book?

Way too much to talk about here, but let's just say there were too many subplots and they seemed quite contrived. Additionally, these experienced law men and women at times seemed like novices -- it was quite unbelievable.

What do you think your next listen will be?

    No idea.

What about January LaVoy’s performance did you like?

Everything. She did a wonderful job of giving each of the characters a distinctive voice. I particularly liked her portrayal of the professor.

Was 12th of Never worth the listening time?

I'll just say it was entertaining.

    "Very Disappointing"
What disappointed you about 12th of Never?

Too many unrelated storylines and too much personal drama that had no bearing on the story at all. I waited for this book and I should have waited and read the other comments. Did Patterson take a number of storylines he had sitting on the shelf and throw them into one last novel?

What was most disappointing about James Patterson and Maxine Paetro ’s story?

Took a series I had grown to love and made sure I would not read another

What about January LaVoy’s performance did you like?

Give what she had to work with, she did great

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

    No

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The book would have to be re-written to be salvaged.

What could James Patterson and Maxine Paetro have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Characters face too many personal challenges, the reactions are unrealistic, I know from experience.

    Any additional comments?

The plot is silly and demeans the characters; Lindsey Boxer is off my list of reads.

    "Boxer has a baby"

I have read all the Women's Murder Club books but I am beginning to wonder why I bother. Boxer has a baby but did she have a personality transplant also? There was too many stories going on at the same time. One or two would have been better with more time to build the story and follow it to the end. This book made me feel as if I was being pulled one way then another. All but two of the murder club members had a personal crisis the other two had a work related crisis. This book would have been better as two books instead of one. January LeVoy did an acceptable job with the narration considering the chaos of the story lines.

    "Not your usual Patterson"
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I always enjoy his books. this is the weakest book from him. The story get good until book 4 and too much whining . The narrator must be new because it wasn't the usual voices and the voices were whiny in addition to the text

Would you be willing to try another book from James Patterson and Maxine Paetro ? Why or why not?

    Absolutely!

How did the narrator detract from the book?

    She had whiny voice

Could you see 12th of Never being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

    No!

    Any additional comments?

I waited so long for this book and was so dissappointed

    "Waste of Time"

I have followed this series from the beginning; this one gives me permission to let it go. The Women's Murder Club used to consist of one or two cases that Lindsey Boxer and her unofficial team would solve. The books have been going downhill for a while, however, I stuck with it out of some sense of misguided loyalty; I'm sure many readers have as well -- hopeful that the creativity that captured us in the beginning might return. It isn't and this will be the last James Patterson purchase I make. The cases are unrelated and there is absolutely nothing engaging about them or the characters involved in solving them.

    "Very disappointed in this book."
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Some continuity, the Joe and Lindsay story line was not good at at all.

What character would you cut from 12th of Never?

    The lawyer

    Any additional comments?

I won't spend money on another Murder Club Mystery, will wait to check it out at the library.

    "Cheesiest One Yet"

The last couple of Women's Murder Club have just gone hill. This one was the absolute worst. I felt like I was watching a bad soap opera with terrible actors trying to work with a hideous script. There were so many 'realllllllly' moments. Lindsey really said that or did that. Do Paetro or Patterson have children? The way certain scenes were written it wouldn't seem like they had any real life experience in that field to draw upon. I will probably read the next one but if its like this one then I'll be done with the series.
