Empire and Honor: Honor Bound, Book 7

It is near the top and that's a pretty good thing

As always it left things that needed answers, but then it's a series

He did a very nice job with all, Peron was nicely done

(don't fly for me Argentina?-just kidding) As the last world war ended a cold war began and in Argentina Cletus Frade calls on all his resources to try and stop Nazi's from selling uranium to the Soviets.

This is the best one in the series in a long while formula driven it picked back up a lot of loose threads from prior books, Peron is back in the picture in an almost believable plot twist. Cleatus however acts likes he's hungover the whole book, grumpy and over reacting.
Went a bit too far I thought, but his "little brother" is straight out of the mold and excellent.
I enjoy the series a great deal

A boring plot about a country and topic I had no interest in. Perhaps a different cover suggesting the true story would help. I have enjoyed other books by Griffin, but in my opinion this was a blooper. Did every character have to have a moniker 5 names long? I waded painfully through the entire book, because Scott Brick is awesome.

love is the wrong word. good book, better than others, and i like the fact he has added some new characters.

no, but it does roll along rapidly. i do get tired of listening to all the kissy kiss lovey dovey crap he constantly writes into his books.
editor sucks, but i am into WEBG books for decades and they are good series.

only the WEBG books. I don't really like his narration but he is less aggravating than that Dove guy.

yea, i wanted to skip chapters or sections when they are intimate. its not pron but it gets old after a while

if you are into the WEBG series' yea it's worth your time.
if not, get the first one in the series first.

After you spend the time to weave through the rest of Col Frade's life from being a Marine wildcat ace in the Pacific to his cover of being an SAA pilot, you finish off the series with this nice piece of work. It is the best of the series. It does get a little tiring hearing about the authors seemingly bit of preoccupation with Eva Peron's skankiness, but once that is over, the book is very entertaining. Well worth the listen.

THIS STORY KEEPS WITH THE THEME OF THE SERIES, IT HAS ALL THE ACTION OF THE PREVIOUS STORIES AND KEEPS YOU GUESSING WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT. I HOPE THEY KEEP THE SERIES GOING!!!

This is another great work and creative extension to a series I thought might have ended. Instead, we have much life left in these character we enjoy.

Griffin generally introduces new characters in each book. Empire and Honor introduces Lt. Jimmy Cronley. Jimmy is the "little brother" of the lead character Cletus Frade. Griffin portrays Jimmy's strengths without making him a superhero. He also reveals Jimmy's weaknesses without making us dislike him. Well written and truly believable.

The Honor Bound Series is the best WWII series that Griffin writes and among the best of any authors. I really like this series because Griffin takes the reader to places in South America they would not normally go to. His books are detailed, the characters believable, and the story lines interesting.

Empire and Honor is an excellent addition to this series and kept me engrossed throughout. Many books start slowly and take time to get into the book storyline. Not with Griffin. This book gets the reader involved from the beginning and keeps them there. Each book in the series can be read as a stand-alone book. Griffin does an excellent job of bringing new readers up to the basics of prior character relationship and interaction. However, the full details of each character can be best understood and appreciated by reading the books in order.

So if you start with this book, enjoy. The storylines make for a fun read and Scott Brick always narrates an excellent listen. Once you finish this book, you will get even more by going back and working through each book in order. That will be time well spent and provide a better understanding of the effects of WWII on Argentina.

The WEB Griffin empire jumped the shark and having a 500+ page volume #7 proves it. I’d say 175 pages max for the amount of new material provided in the latest offering of the Argentina series. The author and co-author, I.e. the co-author succeeded in converting once interesting characters into parodies of themselves, while slogging them through a totally uninteresting, often confusing tale. You'd think the father would instruct the son to just stick to the time tested formula (stick to the script, stupid). He didn't listen, or more likely, thought he was Hemingway. It appears the WEB empire intends to expand into volumes #8, #9 and probably #10 – count me out. Evita made an appearance in this book so Butterworth Hemingway must be chomping at the bit to bring in Andrew Lloyd Webber as a guest B.I.S. agent or S.A.A. passenger.

WW2 spy thriller with an Argentinian/OSS twist. Unusual take which works well. Read the first few novels first to get the best picture of what's going on.

Griffin's six different series are all great, but Honor Bound is my favorite - perhaps because of the hero's larger-than-life persona and the interesting settings. This is, by my count, his 50th book, and he still tells a story with detail and interest which few authors match. This ranks as one of my favorite all-time audiobooks, even though the ending really caught me hanging by a thread. Hope the next arrives sooner rather than later.

Griffin still tells the story, fleshing out the characters and filling in the past for those who either haven't read the prior books or, like me, forget some detail. It 's the storytelling and the detail, woven into history, that makes this series - and this book - to my liking.

Brick is a delightful storyteller. In these books, his dialects enhance the story. Switching from accents of American Texan to Spanish and German enhances the story.
