When Detective Logan Riske goes undercover to find Pepper Yates, a potential link to his best friend's unsolved murder, he vows to gain her cooperation by any means necessary. But the elusive beauty is more suspicious - and in far more danger - than he expected. And the last thing Logan needs is to start caring for her....
Pepper has spent the past five years dodging the corrupt club owner who will stop at nothing to keep her silenced. She can trust no one, not even the handsome new "construction worker" who's moved in next door. The heat between them is undeniable. But will surrendering to passion bring her the safety she so desires - or will her feelings for Logan draw them both into a killer's crosshairs?

"Bk1 of L.F. new series delivers a first class plot"
Firstly, can I say that Lori Foster is an automatic download for me as I find her books both entertaining and brilliant.
This one is no exception, it's the start of Love Undercover series and what a great start it was. It has intrigue, mystery, secrets, suspicion and seduction and has you guessing right up 'til the end. Detective Logan is undercover to trap a witness to his best friend's murder by a gangster boss so seduces Pepper the sister of the witness but he gets much much more than he bargains for.
It has lots of interesting characters and, although it's not erotica, it has some 'action' between the sheets and I now have to wait until Spring 2013 when Reese's (his partners) story is revealed in Bare It All.
Worth a credit? If you like murder, mystery and all that ensues then you're gonna love this - it gets a YES from me.
I've always been a avid reader so now I'm a avid listener. I prefer the paranormal genre but I do like to switch things up. It's boring if you don't have variety. Of course I do love the romance and the hotter the better. Also, you can't beat a good thriller filled with suspense and a ending you can't even guess at until the very end.
"My kind of listen!"
Deception, Death, Desire
Pepper, she is one tough lady.
Pepper. I always admire a strong woman.
It's worth your credit. This one is a keeper. I enjoyed it very much and if you agree with any of the previous reviews I have submitted then you're really going to like this one too.It has the element of a strong woman facing down danger and showing her man how a real woman can handle things.
"It was so-so."
I will try another Lori Foster book, if there's nothing else.
Yes, he did a good job with a good range,
If there is a follow up book. I will not read it...well maybe if it was free or again, nothing else to do.
"Fantastic Foster"
I really enjoyed this book, Lori Foster never fails. I am excited to see any spin offs from this book. I really enjoyed the characters and the twists and turns. This is a great example of Lori Foster's amazing talent.
To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.
"Lori Delivers a Good One!"
Logan and Pepper made this story sing. I thoroughly enjoyed the interaction between these two protagonists. The relationship between Pepper and her brother Rowdy Yates (every time I heard his name I kept thinking Clint Eastwood) had no one to rely on but each other. Rowdy and Pepper worked for one the most notorious players in the city, then they witness a murder of one of the cities prominent members sends them into hiding.
Logan manages to find Pepper and stakes her out and manages to get through her defenses. This story sucked me in quickly, I stayed invested in this story until I finished it in one day. Well worth a credit if you like murder, bad policemen, organized crime, and a sexy detective who is a real gentleman.
"Worth a listen"
I might, if I knew they were into light, fluffy, romantic suspense.
It compares favorably to her other light romantic suspense books and possibly to some of the Jayne Ann Krentz books. I can't really pick a specific title.
There wasn't a huge difference in the various mens and womens voices, other than knowing one was a woman and one was a man, but he did well enough that he didn't detract from the book in my opinion.
Not really.
"Not the best Lori Foster."
I am a Lori Foster fan but I was not that impressed with this book. I had a hard time buying into Sue's character. She came off as weird and awkward, which I guess was the point but I could not get into their sexual encounters. Overall its an okay story and Jim Frangione does a fair job with narration.
