Publisher's Summary

"I've been told that the entire continent of Antarctica groaned at the moment of my birth. The howl tore across glaciers, over mountains and deep into the ice. Everyone says so. Except for my father; all he heard was Mother's sobs. Not of pain, but of joy, so he says. Other than that, the only verifiable fact about the day I was born is that an iceberg the size of Los Angeles broke free from the ice shelf a few miles off the coast. Again, some would have me believe the fracture took place as I entered the world. But all that really matters, according to my parents, is that I, Solomon Ull Vincent, the first child born on Antarctica - the first and only Antarctican - was born on September 2nd, 1974.

"If only someone could have warned me that, upon my return to the continent of my birth thirteen years later, I would be kidnapped, subjected to tortures beyond comprehension and forced to fight... and kill. If only someone had hinted that I'd wind up struggling to survive in a subterranean world full of ancient warriors, strange creatures and supernatural powers.

"Had I been warned I might have lived a normal life. The human race might have remained safe. And the fate of the world might not rest on my shoulders. Had I been warned....

"This is my story - the tale of Solomon Ull Vincent - The Last Hunter."

"Ready to sit on the edge of your chair???"

I got lucky when I decided to listen to the sample for "The Last Hunter Decent". Before this book I had never heard of Jeremy Robinson or R.C. Bray. Now, I am a 24 karat supporter of both. The story starts slowly, but like all great adventures, it continues to build in stature from innocence to full adventure mode. I loved everly minute of it and look forward to followup books.

    "Exceptional Story...Masterful Narration..."
What did you love best about The Last Hunter - Descent?

That's a tough one. I can't honestly think of anything I didn't like. The characters were rich and textured. Even the villains were likable. Charismatic. Intriguing. The story had elements of the Noble Savage in reverse, as well as Peter Pan, Journey to the Center of the Earth, and Survivor Man. It was light-hearted, yet there were elements that were disturbing in regards to Solomon's "descent" into savagery. I feared for the boy's soul...which says alot when considering how many physical dangers that threatened him. This shows expert craftsmanship on the part of the author.

But there was more to this audiobook than a great story. I have to say that R.C. Bray, the narrator, stole the show in this one. He was absolutely amazing. His voices captivated me. It sounds cliche', but it honestly seemed like a movie was playing in my head while he narrated and that different actors were playing individual parts. It was difficult to distinguish Bray's voice from that of the characters he portrayed, which, in my opinion, is the key to masterful narration.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Last Hunter - Descent?

Honestly, the most memorable for me was watching this sweet, innocent boy slowly, gradually be turned into a hardened, savage hunter. There were scenes in which Solomon, er, I mean Ull, scared me in regards for the boy's soul. No child should ever be so hardened as he. And this exploration of the savagery that a child can unleash fascinated me.

Have you listened to any of R. C. Bray’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

First time listening to Bray's narration, but definitely won't be the last. I think he's going to go places. A fantastic actor and storyteller.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

From the first few minutes, I wished I had time enough to just sit and listen straight through.

    Any additional comments?

Can't wait to listen to the next one. Already purchased and will be downloading as soon as I finish this.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

It took a long time time to setup the main plot.

Would you recommend The Last Hunter - Descent to your friends? Why or why not?

It was entertaining but slow moving and very far fetched plot.

Have you listened to any of R. C. Bray’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not heard any other performances.

Did The Last Hunter - Descent inspire you to do anything?

    no

"Just tired of these "action" scenes"
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Focus on the meat of the story

What was most disappointing about Jeremy Robinson’s story?

Overdoing the movie style Rocky scenes. (hero gets beaten to death and then miraculously gets up and beat the other guy)

    Any additional comments?

I bought the series and have no interest inlistening to the others.

The reader is poor and has a long way to go. He may develop a good style one day but it won't be on my dime. The story is geared more for a young crowd. There is a journey to the center of the earth feel about it. I won't buy it's sequel book 2
