Publisher's Summary

MacKayla Lane was just a child when she and her sister, Alina, were given up for adoption and banished from Ireland forever. Twenty years later, Alina is dead and Mac has returned to the country that expelled them to hunt her sister’s murderer. But after discovering that she descends from a bloodline both gifted and cursed, Mac is plunged into a secret history: an ancient conflict between humans and immortals who have lived concealed among us for thousands of years.

What follows is a shocking chain of events with devastating consequences, and now Mac struggles to cope with grief while continuing her mission to acquire and control the Sinsar Dubh — a book of dark, forbidden magic scribed by the mythical Unseelie King, containing the power to create and destroy worlds. In an epic battle between humans and Fae, the hunter becomes the hunted when the Sinsar Dubh turns on Mac and begins mowing a deadly path through those she loves. Who can she turn to? Who can she trust? Who is the woman haunting her dreams? More important, who is Mac and what is the destiny she glimpses in the black and crimson designs of an ancient tarot card?

From the luxury of the Lord Master’s penthouse to the sordid depths of an Unseelie nightclub, from the erotic bed of her lover to the terrifying bed of the Unseelie King, Mac’s journey will force her to face the truth of her exile, and to make a choice that will either save the world... or destroy it.

    "Fantastic ... did not disappoint."

I only became interested in this series within the last month. The author's Highlander series is one of my favorites but I was a little gun-shy to see that she was departing from her usual style and genre. I am glad to see how very wrong I was to hesitate. This series has been a fantastic and wild ride and ends in such a gripping manner that Ms. Moning's fans will be left breathless and satisfied.

It was unfortunate the earlier books were not performed by the dynamic team of Natalie Ross & Phil Gigante. I am sure that Joyce Bean does an adequate job but from the samples offered she sounded much too old to be an early 20's girl from the south. Not to mention that Mr. Gigante has a talent at portraying Ms. Moning's very strong male characters.

    Definitely a must get.

    "Bravo KMM! What an ending!"

I love this series, but the final book just blew me away! KMM writing style reminds me of a chess player who always thinks dozens of moves ahead to the final winning move. In Shadowfever she crafts her final play by bringing all of her strategic moves made in the series to an amazing, complex and astonishing conclusion. This is Urban Fantasy romance done right. Wow, I loved it!

You will want to read them back-to-back, and you need to start from the beginning of the series with Darkfever. I've read and listened to the series, and couldn't recommend this series enough in the audio format. Some books are made for audio, and this series is one of them.

    "You MUST get this book!!"

I wish all of my books could be read by Natalie Ross and Phil Gigante, this book is fabulous. I have waited it seems like forever for this book to come out and it does not disappoint!!

It isn't listed as a romance and I can see why but there is still the underlying romantic tension between Mac and Jericho.

There is so much I want to say about this book I don't know where to start so I will just say that this book is definitely worth the money! You will not be disappointed.

"I loved it, but its not for everyone"

Wow! This was a great ending to an OK series. Unfortunately, I would suggest reading all 4 previous books before starting this one. (Which is a huge listening investment). Don't get me wrong I liked the entire series but at times it did drag on. If you like Paranormal Romance then this book (series) is for you. Although I found the entire series a little light on the romance part.
I loved the narration but my opinion is definitely biased (Natalie and Phil are my favorite)

"For series Fan, very frustrating. Minor spoilers."

I'm 15 hours in to a nearly 20 hour last book. I wanted to write this now, before I hear the end because no matter what happens, we had too wait way too long for it.
I started these books once they all were published. So I had no wait time between her endings. I liked the way way the author built up tension in the past, but it took too long for JZB and Mac to get together the first time. I never dreamed I'd be through 3/4 of this book without answers to any of the questions. Im entirely frustrated and feel like the author is playing games to the detriment of the story.
I stopped listening last night and started another book because I to angry that I had listened to a lot of nothing for 15 hours, and there were only 4 1/2 left.
I think fans of the series should be prepared to wait a long time for anything to move forward in this last book. When I think characters have made progress and truth has been revealed, I actually end up as far from getting answers as I was in the first book.

In this final book, the author uses the cliche techniques of a made for tv miniseries. And although I will read the end, I feel very frustrated at the time I've spent chasing my tail with the heroine of the story. Nearly 80 hours of audio and I'm annoyed!

    "Satisfying"

A fantastic end to a great series! It's a thrill ride and every time you think you have it figured you're in for a surprise. I don't normally like multiple narrators but it works perfectly in this book. You really need to start at the beginning of the series before getting this one. You won't be disappointed.

    "A fine series"

Like all of the other reviewers, I enjoyed this series.

My only comment about this book is that it is very dependent upon the earlier books. I think that while Shadowfever did a great job of pulling it all together, it would be more than a bit confusing as a standalone work.

The Highlander series (also very enjoyable) works better as separate works. This is a series that you really need to start with the first book.

    "Painful listen"

If you have not read or listened to any books in this series, please use caution with your credits. It was not at all what I expected from reading the synopsis and reading the glowing reviews. It is not a good stand-alone book in a series. I feel like I listened to twenty hours of whining. It was not pleasant, in fact, my worst purchase in the last three years.

"don't waste a credit on this"

what drivel. Didn't want to waste my credit, so I tried to listen to this, but it's such a waste of time not to mention a credit. overly melodramatic, vapid and boring. such a disappointment. and definitely not scifi.
