"Gripping Story of Survival from WW2 Submarine Sink"
Yes It had a suspenseful plot. The fact that it is a true story makes it the more amazing.
The agonizing decisions the crew has to make in their attempts to escape the sunken sub.
A very matter of fact reading that doesn't color the story bit let's the facts speak for themselves making them even more poignant.
The remorse that the captain had even years later that not all the men had been saved.
This is an excellent book not only for those interested in military history but for those who enjoy a good human interest story.
"Life or Death in a WWll Submarine"
A interesting true story that would have made a good movie. The drama and courage, the loss of strength and will to live decide who will survive the strange sinking. The survivers who have gone to the depth of human endurance find they are only starting the ordeal.
A page turner. another example of the greatest Generation.
"Should have been a shorter story,"
A lot of redundancy in the story, a harrowing experience for sure, but it seemed like the story was the same for each character
no idea, I'm all over the board with listening choices
didn't add enough to the characters, probably due to the writing
not so much disappointment, as boredome,
"Very informative and intriguing."
Did not see the print version.
Those Terrible Hours. Squalis sank and diving bell saved many of the men
Keep it interesting
Yes
"Good Book"
I enjoyed this book very much. Great story, well told. I enjoy WWII submarine books and this is a very good one.
"Interesting seldom told story of WWII"
A true story I was unaware of. Very similar, although not as long, as "Unbroken", the story of Louis Zamperini. If you are interested in WWII or submarine warfare you will enjoy this book. Well written as well.
"good book"
Good book. I found myself wanting to get back to the story, particularly near the end. It ties in with the book titled "Unbroken, a tale of courage"
"Escape from the Deep"
For a former submariner like me, who has been there, this may be one of the best submarine book I have ever read.
