"[The Protector]... takes its place alongside the most innovative thrillers ever written." (Publishers Weekly)
Triadbooks
"Excellent story, not a dull moment."
I really liked this book. It has all the ingredients, story, plot, great ending and non stop suspense and action all the way through.
I particularly liked the writing style of conveying a great deal of interesting information woven into the narrative and dialogue.
The narrator was wonderful also.
"The Protector"
The story was well set. The agency used to protect the wealthy and famous was entirely believable. The fact that this elite service hired only the best from the various government services was also quite believable.
I enjoyed the way the author provided background information about the actions of the principle character without boring you with unnecessary lines of trivia.
All in all an exciting story. I'm now looking for a sequel.

"The Protector"
This was an excellent book!! It's one of those books that you can't stop listening to. It amazing how much information can be so well put together; to remain suspenseful, yet informative at the same time. I look forward to reading more of David Morrell's books!
"I missed my exit"
I thought this was an excellent book. It had me so engrossed that I actually missed my exit on the highway by 2 exits one day. The action was non-stop, the detail was good without being boring. The background of the charachters was interestingly woven in to the story as was the detail of the weapons. Never did I find myself waiting for something else to happen. I did however wish the ride home was longer some days. I highly recommend this book.
"Pretty good"
Good narration, decent story. Some folks really rave about Morrell but I think he's just an average storyteller. I am, however, impressed with his knowledge of weapons and tactics. He does his homework. This audiobook has a lot of action scenes and the reader pulls them off well. Three stars. Beats FM radio anyday. :)
"An 11 Hour Chase-Scene"
If you enjoyed the movie "Die-Hard" and want more of the same, this is the book for you. Other reviewers here have noted that this book would make a good movie, and they are probably right. If you are looking for a well-writen book with an intricate plot or interesting characters, however... you should just click on by.
It's evident that the author knows how to write well. If not, there would be no other way to stretch this into an eleven hour chase scene. The truth is, you could probably skip over full hours of this book and pick up just about where you left off... chasing somebody or being chased.
I cannot say that this is the worst book that I've ever listened to, but I'm not convinced that it's the book that made me listen. In fact, the narrator Stephan Rudnicki might be the only reason that I made it through the entire book. Like he's proven in his other narrations (Ender's Game, for example), he's able to walk the fine line between acting and narrating without becoming too dramatic or distracting.
"Highly recommended thriller"
I REALLY like this audiobook! Not only is the story tightly-written and full of plot twists and turns galore, but the narration is excellent. The narrator does sound effects (such as the plop-plop of crutches hitting the floor) believably, and handles different characters with different voices masterfully. This is one audiobook that I'm going to listen to a second time!
"Touch em all!"
Morrell circles the bases with this attention holding rollar coaster thriller. Grab on and hold tight. Never loses it's way. Recommending to all my need to be stimulated audible friends.
"Couldn't stop!"
I was surprised. This isn't my normal Author or type. I bought this one because of the reviews and I couldn't stop listening. I actully went back and played the beginning again to fully understand the plot. From now on I will pay attention to the reviews before I purchase. They were right on target.
"The Protector"
Morrell proves once again why he has been a favorite of mine since BROTHERHOOD OF THE ROSE (1984). His plots are tight and imaginative, and just when you think you have it figured out....he turns another unseen corner and surprises you!!
