Publisher's Summary

When a former soldier murders two 17-year-old students at a posh Edinburgh boarding school, Rebus immediately suspects there is more to the case than meets the eye. Army investigators show up to snoop around the scene of the crime, and links between the killer and a local group of "Goths" begin to surface.

But just as Rebus finds himself in the thick of the murder inquiry, he's threatened with suspension from the police force: a man who had been menacing his partner and friend, Detective Sergeant Siobhan Clarke, died in the same house fire that has left Rebus with horrible, painful burns. Rebus is immediately suspected of foul play.

Now Rebus is faced with two harrowing missions: He must get to the root of the boarding school killing as he tries to clear his own name.

Crack another case with Inspector Rebus.

"Great book, best Rebus I've heard"

Great listen! Of the seven Rebus novels I've heard, this one is best. It keeps you glued over the span of 12+ hours and it has a very good ending. Quintessential Rebus and a great one to get yourself stuck on the series, although in time, this one is further along. Highly recommended!

    "Rebus is the best!"

You can't have a better hero than the struggling, haunted John Rebus. This one was great - leaving me wondering exactly what was going on until the very end. Outstanding!!

    "Always dependably good writing"

I find Ian Rankin never fails me. He tells a great story, I never figure out the mystery until the end, and I love Inspector Rebus.

    "Why GILL and not JILL??"
If you could sum up A Question of Blood in three words, what would they be?

    Terrific Rebus mystery!

What other book might you compare A Question of Blood to and why?

The rest of the John Rebus series. It's the same main characters (and the same minor police characters), the same tone, the same style.

    Which scene was your favorite?

The scene with Evil Bob at the panto.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I wanted to, yes, but I also wanted to prolong the pleasure.

    Any additional comments?

This is a good reader, but WHY does he refer to police boss Jill Templar as Gill throughout? It's irritating.

    "Love Ian Rankin"

I always enjoy Inspector Rebus, and this was no exception. My only quibble was the choice on an English narrator for what is such a Scottish series. Not only were his accents questionable, there were also a couple of mispronunciations (which would probably go unnoticed if you're not a Scot).
