"[A] fast-pitched, funny novel." (Publishers Weekly)
"Hilarious....The uncomplicated plot is developed smoothly with just the right doses of surprise and laughter to keep readers turning the pages. Characters are credible, and never lose their identities." (School Library Journal)
I'm not blind drunk, I'm just blind.
"The hijinks continue."
Peter Hatcher thought that after his year in Princeton, his life might calm down when he returned to New York. The family was even taking their usual summer vacation in Maine. Unfortunately however, things rarely go as planned at Casa de Hatcher. Peter discovers much to his chagrin that the Hatchers are going to be sharing a vacation home with, horror of horrors, the Tubmans! Even worse, Fudge, Peter's young brother, is dead set on marrying Peter's worst enemy, Sheila Tubman herself. Fortunately for Peter, he has a visit from his best buddy Jimmy Fargo to look forward to, so the trip shouldn't be a total nightmare.
Once again Judy Blume proves that an author can in fact narrate their own work and do it justice, even if quite a few of them seem to fail miserably. Her characterizations of everyone from Peter to Fudge to Jimmy are all excellent. And these tales bring back such fond memories of my own school days, even though at the time I swore I hated school.
