"Really helpful and practiacl"
I listened to it a while ago and I don't remember the specific techniques I liked.I do however remember that I was fascinated by every word and I felt like I never want the book to end.It talks mainly about listening which is something that I'd like to do more and better in life and in my marriage. It shows many examples of how conflicts that at first look unresolveable are being resolved by having the couple listen to each other.I also liked that the book is not repeating the well known principals of the 5 love languages (tough I think they are mentioned) but it gives new insights from totally new perspective, overall it is a must for everyone who likes to hear more of Garry Chapman.
New to Audible & loving it.
"It's not about winning, it's about compromising."
Yes to refresh myself with the concepts & stories. Learning to work together so the outcome is satisifying for both parties.
Couple learning to compromise on painting the bathroom walls different colors.
You would think he is the author.
It's not about winning, it's about compromising and listening.
"too religious for me"
I thought this audiobook offered a few really helpful suggestions in how to work through conflicts in romantic relationships. However, I found them really difficult to swallow with the incredibly religious overtones in almost everything recounted in the examples. The writer seems to know everyone through a church, there is a lot of talk about God's love, praying, etc -- just a constant, unnecessary theme of religion running through the otherwise helpful insights.
I might not have minded it as much had I been warned in the audiobook's description, but since I'm not very religious myself, I found it very difficult to relate to, and thus, not really worth my money.
"Good Foundational Concepts"
The narrator does a fantastic job!
I think the author did a good job of laying out the foundational concepts behind communication in a successful marriage.
"How to more than just survive."
Gary is a big help to both of us again. It continues to be a savior all of the time in our lives. Very Good read and couples' manual for life together.
