"Diving into the Lost World"
I am finding this audio book to be intriguing. I have seen some mediocre reviews of Michael Crichton's work, but I definitely do not agree. If you enjoy science fiction and fantasy, jump on in as I did. Even though the book was published in 1996 it has not become outdated and I have found it to be far better than the Jurassic Park movies.
I listen to this while I am driving. The narrator reads clearly and smoothly. His voice is easy to listen to, and his tone is excellent.
Definitely a great listen!
I like my horror, techno-thrillers, and science fiction. Which is why Jurassic Park and The Lost World are 2 of my favorite books ever!
"Dodgson! We've got Dodgson here..."
This is a fantastic sequel to Jurassic Park! Great technical discussions, a fun, exciting story, (which had minor flaws, as other reviewers have pointed out), but it's about dinosaurs!! If you can suspend your disbelief when it comes to the dinosaurs, then why harp on the character's flaws? Go with it!
My brother got this for me when it first came out, and I loved it so much, I have since read almost all of Crichton's other novels. And if you have seen the movie, please don't let its lousiness detract you. This novel is not like the movie at all. And it's got Dodgson, a much better villain than the 25 Marlboro men and Hammond's nephew that were in the movie,(and nowhere in the book.) With all due respect Mr.Spielberg, exactly which parts of this book did you actually read?
Scott Brick, you are the man, please do an unabridged version of Jurassic Park, so I can enjoy an audiobook of the only Crichton novel that is possibly better than this one.
"So much better than the movie"
This book is nothing like the movie. After finishing the book i saw the movie again and maybe 5% of the book was used in the movie. Not even the major plot is the same.
If you liked the first movie and the first book definitely read this book. It is very detailed and keeps the listener interested all the way through
"Fabulous a fun listen"
entertaining suspenseful intellectual
This was a great listen doesn't end like the movie at all if any one is expecting that, but overall very enjoyable, there is a lot more information about the islands secrets and Ingen.
I think more people could have died, but the deaths were suspenseful and horrible in a good dinosaur eating kind of way.
If you like a lot of background and science mixed in with your story this book is a great listen. There are a lot of monologues about evolution and animal behavior that is very interesting.
The reader was great, he was good at conveying emotion and suspense without being over-dramatic.
"Much better then the movie"
Much more broader then the movie along with way more detail.
Towards the end it got tense.

"Ridiculous"
I have always liked most of Crichton's books. They are well researched and fun to read(listen) to. This one is seriously flawed. I guess it helps the story to make the dinosaurs have human characteristics so I can live with that. What is unacceptable is having the characters attacked and not giving any notice to it in the interactions between the characters. It is just stupid to have someone tossed off a ship then found by the others and no one is appalled or makes a comment. Will probably finish this but only to see if it gets any worse. Crichton's later works are better. Don't bother with this unless you just want to laugh at the story line.
"The Lost Over Done World"
I found this to be long winded . I felt like Mr.Crichton expounded a little much.
"Chricton gets lost in science, and forgets story"
Listeners are lost by Chrichton's insistence of over-explaining his dino-science, and its all done through relentless, unnatural dialogues between his one-dimensional / WYSIWYG characters.
love to shop
"Haven't started listening yet"
