Jill wants Charley to write her biography so that she can share the many hidden truths about the case that failed to surface during her trial. Seeing this as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, Charley begins her journey into the mind of this deeply troubled woman.
Her path takes a twisted turn, however, when the anonymous letters she's recently received from an angry reader evolve into threats, targeting her son and daughter. As Charley races against time to save her family, she begins to understand the value of her seemingly intrusive neighbors, friends, and relatives. As she discovers, this network of flawed but loving people might just be her only hope of getting out alive.

"not the norm"
I want to say this is one of my favorite authors and this is the first one of her books that i have listened to. I don't know if that has any play into this review. Story is good but felt very long at times. One reason I like her is that I tend to be surprised by the ending and this one did just that. Only complaint is that story seemed to just go on and on at times.
I own a small shop selling custom/costume Jewelry. I love to listen to audio books while I create jewelry. I love all animals and get very upset when they aren't treated well, even in fiction.
"Grabs you and won't let go!"
Yes! And I already have... The humor is a delightful balance for the rest of the story.
Charley, of course. And the dog... The dog everyone has to love.
At the opening, the way Charley answers a crank caller.
The end. I really didn't want it to be over...
A really good book. Some mentions of cruelty to animals that I skipped over, I wish those could have been left out...
