"Good Idea, Great Characters. STILL HORRIBLE"
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?No idea... Preteens... Same level of emotional growth and has a Fairy
What could H. P. Mallory have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?Not tried to write a easy to see through mystery. Only makes her dis-believable Main Female Character more annoying and weak. Dulice is the weakest and least need character in the series. Trying to portray her as important or even relevant to the flow of the story makes the plot have to stretch to keep up with the idiot decisions the Author makes her do. In short, If H.P. Mallory wrote about a subject she could express believably and kept the current cast of characters and world, but found a new Main Female character and NO CRIME FIGHTING. Then I say she be an incredible storyteller. But after suffering thru two of her books. I refuse to put myself thru the third or another Dulcie O'Neil future train wrecks.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?Really just the story harmed any listening to the Narrator and she occasionally get a few of the male supporting characters voices mixed up with each other for a short scene.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?The World and Concept. But her Main character focus like a 12 years old Nancy Drew wannabe prevented the Author from shining much light on the Why and Hows of the portrayed Netherlands World and how it dealt with the Real world. For an Investigator she DOES NO research on the creatures or planes that her job dealt with.
Any additional comments?The Main Female character had the focus and emotional awareness of a 12 years old Nancy Drew wannabe. This prevented the Author from shining much light on the Why and Hows of the portrayed Netherlands World and how it dealt with the Real world in her novels. Plus for Dulcie to be an Police Investigator, but she DOES NO research on the creatures or planes they delve from, which seems like part of her job. So the constant moments of surprise for the character to wonder why she can not help her friends, gets very old when you have to hold back screaming at the imaginary character what to do. Reminded me of watching a Preschooler yell back answers to a TV puppet or cartoon
