A better narrator. Very honestly, he ruined the entire book for me.

I didn't make it to the end of the book before I lost interest and started a different story.

No emotion! It sounded like this was the first time he had ever read the book. He was monotone and just terrible.

All charaters were fine - wouldn't cut any.

It is too bad that there wasn't a better narrator. A good narrator could have made this simple, sweet story MUCH more enjoyable and worth the money. Save your money and read the book to yourself.

I've read the book already, and loved the story.

Unexpected love is always enjoyable to hear about.

The narrator totally pulled me out of the story. He was rushed, mispronounced words, and had no emotion.

Jared, of course. He's so sweet. And I'd love to see his curls.

Enjoyed the story line, it was funny in parts. I enjoy books that can make me laugh and have enjoyable love scenes.

The narrator was boring. He read too quickly and when speaking for the different characters, they wasn't any emotion, everyone had the same voice. I won't be able to listen to other books by him. It was just too frustrating.

Jared. I love how open and honest he is. He enjoys his family, he's patient and kind.

Mixed. The story is very moving and romantic. The narrator was so flat that it killed a great deal of the enjoyment. With two male main characters, it is essential that you are able to tell them apart in the narration, but I couldn't. I really would like the the rest of the series on audio, but it is the same narrator, so I think I'm going to pass.

More inflection, differentiated voices. Better timing. There were no pauses in really important places, like changes from one chapter to the next--though I guess that is the fault of the editor.

It is a five star story. I loved the twist and turns of this romance and it is not often I find a gay romance that I enjoy so much. I read a lot of straight romance because there is so much, but it is surely a nice to run upon a gay romance that is done so well without all the typical gay stereo types. There is sex in this story but the relationship is the main theme and it is hot.

This is told by the main character, Jarred who is gay, and out, but finds himself being challenged by this new love in ways he would never had imagined.

Just a great narration. Easy to listen to and great in his intonation between each character.

Unexpected love. Well, not really since it is a romance novel. But the love the two character find together didn't come easy.

I am hoping that Audible will have available more gay romance. This book is a prime example in the high quality of the new gay romance novels in the market now.

I have not read the print version

This book took me by surprise. I didn't read the summary or really pay attention to the cover I bought it because it was on sale and the reviews were good. I had no idea it was about 2 male lovers.

I haven't heard any of his other performances but his voice matched well with how I invisioned the main character to sound.

I wouldn't take any of them out to be honest but not for any particular negative reason.

I like the story and drama, but if just feel flat to me. I like the characters of Jared and Matt but I like a bit more romance, smex and story I guess.

The book itself was not too bad. Nothing exciting that would set it apart from others in the same genre, but a nice story. The narrator, however, was terrible. I don't know why the decision was made to simply read the story, with no differentiation between characters, but it did not work well. Also, the narrator had a strange inflection that lowered at the end of each sentence, which took a sweet book and made it seem kind of depressing. He did not seem to be familiar with the book, since his tone never seemed to match the material he was reading. Add in the intermittent 70s porn music between the chapters and it made a fingernails on the chalkboard type of grating listening experience. I've read other books by Marie Sexton that I enjoyed, but I would never listen to one of them again on Audible.

This is a good story and the narrator was brilliant, so many gay stores are ruined by the narrator but this is the best gay story I have listened to so far.
its not all about the sex and co*k, It's an actual story with suspense ,climax and all.

If not for the narration, it would be almost at the top!

The story was interesting in its development and character development.

Not at all, but I think toward the end, he did try. I couldn't tell the difference at all but after I got used to the rhythm of his voice, I could make it out better. Even with this type of narration, this story was great, so imagine how it would have with a bit more effort???

Small town progress

I really enjoyed this book. A good story is a good story is a good story. I plan to get the rest of this series, but as has been mentioned before, due to the rather dry narration, I think I'll have to psych myself up to listen to it. I figure there are two types of books that are not perfect that I can listen to. OK story with great narration or Great story with OK narration. This book is that of the ladder. I don't know if the voice actor is new and just needs to get into the groove or what, but I won't let that deter me from a great story. It's worth the listen.
