Tessa Lancaster's skills first earned her a position as an enforcer in her Uncle Teruo's Japanese Mafia gang. Then they landed her in prison for a crime she didn't commit. Now Tessa and Charles must work together in order to protect their client, while new truths emerge and circumstances spiral to a deadly fever pitch.Factor in both Tessa's and Charles's families and you've got some wild dynamics - and an action-packed, romantic read as Tessa and Charles discover the reality of being made new in Christ.

"Good book, a little rough around the edges"
If you could sum up Protection for Hire in three words, what would they be?

    Fun, exciting, engaging

Have you listened to any of Emily Durante’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, but she does a good job. Even gets down the accents. The mother is my favorite.

Who was the most memorable character of Protection for Hire and why?

The main character, Tessa, is well written. She is interesting, intriguing and conflicted. She comes off as a rounded character.

    Any additional comments?

I very much liked the story line. It is new and interesting. I especially liked that the romance takes a backseat to the main adventure of the story. Tessa is a character that is lovable in spite of her mistakes and inspiring to watch while she tries to make amends for her bad choices in the past.

    "Give us More Camy Tang"
What did you love best about Protection for Hire?

I love reading her books as they are like the joy luck club letting us understand the Asian American world.

What did you like best about this story?

The character is a martial artist, once part of the Japanese yakuza, but now a Christian.

Have you listened to any of Emily Durante’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I am wondering if I am odd on this one, as the read was flowing and easy to listen to, but she was not Asian, or I could not hear it if she was. I felt like I was watching an old western where the Indians were Italian.

If you could rename Protection for Hire, what would you call it?

Thank you God for Christian writers who can write. No embarrassing points in the books that you will have to mute for kids.

    Any additional comments?

I want more Camy Tang audio books as her books are great.

    "Nice"

Tessa is a good character with enough past to keep her interesting. Story was flowing and enjoyable. A little romance but nothing graphic, which was enjoyable.

The narrator did a fine job.

    Overall worth a credit.
