Do not miss this one. Great narrator. Listened to the whole thing in one sitting.

Listed to this and was not excited, but not disappointed. Interesting story, a little different than the Twilight vein; nice to read something a little off the beaten-path. Interesting premise, likeable characters. The best friend was a little irritating; author tried to hard to create the funny, nerdy friend. All-in-all a fairly satisfying listen.

I'm almost embarrassed to admit I not only listened to but really enjoyed this book seeing as it's classified in the young adult genre. I'm 42 and the father of a 12 year old but I couldn't put it down. The story itself is gripping (don't we all wish we had super powers?) and the action is nicely paced. The character development, which is normally lacking in an action novel, was just enough. The narrator was terrific. It's obvious this story will draw comparisons to the TV series Heroes, and I agree with that comparison. I can only assume this story was conceived by the author long before the TV show otherwise I'd be a little disappointed with the "save the cheerleader, save the world" aspect of the Michael Vey story. Surely Mr. Evans could have been more original. But be that as it may, Mr. Evans is on to something. Clearly this will be a multi-volume work and if the first book is any indication, this will be a very popular series. Give it a try. I'll bet you like it and if not, your teenagers certainly will.

Had I read the synopsis more carefully I would have realized this was a young adults novel. Having said that ( as I'm an old dude ) I was impressed by the narration. It was well time and delivered. The plot, while juvenile, has good depth and pacing. I will definitely recommend this to my teenage sons.

As an adult I found this 1st installment of the Michael Vey books to be a little on the fanciful side, but with the innocence of youth, this series of books will travel down the same roads as Twilight and Harry Potter. From the strenght of the Michael Vey character to the comedic sidekick Austin, this series will be one I own. My only regret is that these books will only come once a year.

This could become the the answer to Harry Potter. No withchcraft, no Vampires but plenty misterious powers. Faced with pear presure what will it take to make the right decission!
Wife and I listened to in in one day!

The book starts off fairly slow, but by the end you won't want to stop listening. The characters were well developed, the plot was sound, and I had no issue with the narration. I listened to it with my 12 year old daughter and she loved it. She said wanted to READ the book, and enjoy it a second time. Overall it's a good beginning for, what seems will be, a great series.

A great book...I can write that confidently even though I am only 1/2 way thru it...I have not listened to a book that held my attention this closely for a very long time...I listen while I am doing other things because I dont have time to just sit and read anymore...I often have to 'rewind' because I became distracted and missed so much...That was not the case with this book. It is not the great novel of the century but is a wonderful pleasure read. It has some obvious parallels to Riordan's Percy Jackson series but stands on its own quite well. I have already looked for other books by Richard Evans. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoyed the Percy Jackson series or other Riordan books...I am Number Four...Divergent...Michael Scotts Alchemist series...or Simon Bloom. I am certainly not the target audience but I have an 11 year old avid reader, and I like to know what she is reading...This will definitely become one of her favorites (her other favorites are listed above) it gets a strong A in my opinion.

I loved this book, great young adult book that reaches all ages. It held my attention and I could not put it down. It was great!!!!
